Keeping in view the incessant rainfall in Bastar region, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has directed Bastar Division Commissioner and Collectors of all districts coming under the division to continuously monitor the situation and stay vigilant to avert or deal with any untoward situations. The CM spoke to Bastar Division Commissioner Amrit Khalko over telephone and sought information about the situation in heavy-rainfall affected areas of Bastar Division. He directed the Commissioner to alert not only the control room but also the departments and officials concerned so as to control the situation. He also gave instructions to arrange for relief camps in low-lying and sensitive areas near rivers-rivulets in advance as per the requirement. The Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel gave instructions to the officials concerned of State Calamity Management Force, District Police Forces, Home Guards, Revenue Department, Health Department, Public Health Engineering, Electricity Department PWD, Food Department Urban Bodies, BSNL etc to stay alert and vigilant. Commissioner of Bastar informed that it is raining heavily in Odisha and Bastar region. Catchment area of Indravati River has also witnessed heavy rainfall. As per the prediction, water-level in Bastar district has reached warning level and at any point of time it is likely to cross the danger level, indicating high chances of flood. Instructions have been given to vacate these sensitive and low-lying areas as precautionary measure. Relief camps are also being held. Regular public announcements (munaadi) about the same are being made to warn common people in flood-prone cities and rural areas. Instructions have been given to declare holiday in schools of affected areas.
