‘BJP-led Centre’s vendetta politics’: TMC on ED motion towards Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut | Information

New Delhi: The Mamata Banerjee-led TMC on Sunday (July 31) condemned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) motion on Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, calling it “vendetta politics” and an try and curb “opposition voices” by the ruling BJP-led Central authorities. “That is an try and stifle opposition voices each inside and out of doors Parliament. Inside Parliament, you (BJP-led Centre) get opposition MPs suspended and out of doors, you utilize central businesses to threaten opposition leaders,” TMC MP Santanu Sen was quoted as saying by PTI. “The raid on Sanjay Raut’s residence is a mirrored image of vendetta politics,” the TMC chief added.

Shiv Sena chief Sanjay Raut was detained by the ED sleuths after a day-long raid at his bungalow ‘Maitri’ in Mumbai in an alleged money-laundering case within the Patra Chawl land rip-off. Raut mentioned he will not bow down and stop the celebration, shortly earlier than being taken to the south Mumbai workplace of the ED. “They (ED) are going to arrest me. I’m going to be arrested,” the Shiv Sena chief instructed reporters.

Sunil Raut, brother of the Shiv Sena MP, mentioned that the ED officers didn’t seize any doc associated to the Patra Chawl case in the course of the search. “At round 7 am, 20-22 officers arrived at Sanjay Raut’s residence with search warrants, however they didn’t discover any doc associated to Patra Chawl case. Even when he will get arrested he’ll not bow down. No paperwork had been seized, no questioning was achieved,” he was cited by ANI.

ED motion towards Raut comes within the wake of one other latest high-profile case involving former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee through which crores of rupees have been seized from residences linked to his aide Arpita Mukherjee. The now-suspended TMC chief, who has denied any wrongdoing and asserted that the “cash doesn’t belong to him”, was arrested by ED earlier this month pertaining to the alleged cash laundering in College Service Fee (SSC) rip-off case.
