Centre points advisory over ‘sharp rise in hate crimes, anti-India actions’ in Canada

India on Friday suggested its nationals in Canada to stay vigilant saying hate crimes, sectarian violence and anti-India actions had risen sharply within the North American nation and that “perpetrators of those crimes haven’t been delivered to justice up to now”.

“There was a pointy enhance in incidents of hate crimes, sectarian violence and anti-India actions in Canada. The Ministry of Exterior Affairs and our excessive fee/consulates-general in Canada have taken up these incidents with the Canadian authorities and requested them to analyze the mentioned crimes and take applicable motion. The perpetrators of those crimes haven’t been delivered to justice up to now in Canada,” the Ministry of Exterior Affairs mentioned in a press release.

The advisory additionally urged Indians headed to Canada for journey and academic functions to stay cautious. Indians have been requested to register with the Excessive Fee of India in Ottawa or the consulates in Toronto and Vancouver via their web sites or the Madad portal (madad.gov.in).

“Registration would allow the excessive fee and the consulates-general to raised join with Indian residents in Canada within the occasion of any requirement or emergency,” the advisory added.
