Construction of 37 hostel buildings of Scheduled Castes in the state Housing facility for education to more than one lakh students of scheduled caste class Bhopal: Tuesday, February 23, 2021, 18:30 IST For Scheduled Caste students in the state Construction of 37 hostel buildings has been completed for the purpose of providing educational residential facility. In the year 2019-20, an amount of about 108 crores rupees was sanctioned for the construction of 43 new hostel buildings from the state. 50 crore has been sanctioned by the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department for the construction of hostel buildings this year. Under the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hostel Scheme of the Central Government, in the year 2020-21, the State Government’s Girls Hostel Building of 250 seats, Indore, Ujjain The proposals of Bhind, Morena and Chhatarpur have been sent to the Central Government, whose efforts are being approved by the Scheduled Castes Welfare Department. Along with this, 100 seater girls hostel buildings are proposed to be built in Vidisha, Sehore, Shajapur, Dewas and Agar-Malwa. Efforts are also being made by the department for its approval. An amount of about 2 crore rupees has been received from the Central Government for the Children’s Hostel Building in Ratibad, Bhopal. The operation of the hostels for the boys and girls for providing accommodation facilities and favorable environment for studies to the students belonging to the scheduled castes in the state. 1937 hostels are being operated. Of these, about one lakh students are being provided residential accommodation along with education. 1009 hostels are being run in the state for scheduled caste children and 928 for girls. Out of these hostels, 108 college hostels are being run for boys and 81 college hostels for girls.
