Naveen Patnaik writes to PM on concern of rice procurement

Because the deadlock continues over procurement of surplus parboiled rice from Odisha by the Meals Company of India (FCI), Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi looking for his intervention within the matter.
Stating that non-lifting of surplus parboiled rice from Odisha as a result of Division of Meals and Public Distribution restrictions might severely have an effect on the state’s paddy procurement operations and have an effect on over 10 lakh farmers within the state, Patnaik wrote: “… Your form private intervention is requested for issuing a route to DFPD to just accept the estimated surplus parboiled rice from the State for the following KMS (Kharif advertising season) 2021-22. Additional, affordable time might also be given to the State to align itself with the necessities of DFPD.”
