Russia’s defence ministry stated Tuesday it scrambled fighter jets following the detection of a US drone over the Black Sea however denied inflicting it to crash regardless of accusations from Washington.

The US navy stated a Russian fighter jet on Tuesday dumped gas on an American drone after which collided with it, inflicting the drone to crash.
The defence ministry in Moscow stated it detected an American MQ-9 drone “over the waters of the Black Sea within the space of the Crimean peninsula” flying “in the direction of the Russian state border”.
It added that the drone was flying with its “transponders turned off” and fighter jets have been scrambled “to establish” it.
“Because of sharp manoeuvring at round 0930 MSK (0630 GMT) the MQ-9 unmanned aerial car entered an uncontrolled flight with lack of altitude and collided with the floor of the water,” the ministry stated.
“The Russian fighters didn’t use their on-board weapons, made no contact with the UAV and safely returned to their house airfield,” the ministry stated.
