  • X, Formerly Twitter, May Go Bankrupt Under Elon Musk If Advertisers Keep Fleeing |

London: The loans Elon Musk took out to buy Twitter (now called X) was about $13 billion and the social media company has to pay about $1.2 billion in interest payments every year.

As big advertisers quit the platform and X cannot pay the interest on its loans or pay employees, then it could actually go bankrupt, the BBC reported on Sunday. “But that would be an extreme scenario that Musk would surely want to avoid,” the report mentioned.

However, for a company he bought for $44 billion, bankruptcy might sound unthinkable but “it is possible”. Disney and Apple are no longer advertising on X and Musk told companies last week to “Go f*** yourself.”

Retail giant Walmart has confirmed that it is not advertising on X. “We aren’t advertising on X as we’ve found other platforms to better reach our customers,” a Walmart spokesperson was quoted as saying in reports.

The departure of Walmart adds to the growing list of firms leaving X after Musk endorsed an antisemitic post last month (for which, he apologised last week). Apple, Disney, IBM, Comcast and Warner Bros. Discovery are among the companies no longer buying ads on X.

Last year, around 90 per cent of X’s revenue came from advertising. Not any more. Musk has warned that the loss of big advertisers would spell the end of X. “If the company fails, it will fail because of an advertiser boycott. And that will be what bankrupts the company.” he said.

“What this advertising boycott is going to do is kill the company. And the whole world will know that those advertisers killed the company, and we will document it in great detail,” Musk had told the audience at The New York Times’ DealBook Summit.

In 2022, Twitter’s advertising revenue was around $4 billion. Insider Intelligence estimates that this year, it will drop to $1.9 billion. After Musk’s outburst against big advertisers, X is reportedly aiming to tap small and medium businesses (SMBs) to offset the advertising loss from big companies.

A new report by The Financial Times has claimed X will now turn to SMBs to shore up revenue after Musk angered big brands by supporting antisemitic content.

“Small and medium businesses are a very significant engine that we have definitely underplayed for a long time,” a company spokesperson was quoted as saying. “It was always part of the plan, now we will go even further with it,” the company added.

  • Neeraj Chopra Reacts To Broadcasters Not Showing Him On Big Screen Or TV During World Cup Final, Says ‘I Want Them To…’ | Other

India’s greatest Track and Field athlete Neeraj Chopra was in the stands of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to watch the World Cup final between India and Australia in November 19. While the broadcasters showed a host of celebrities from Bollywood and other film industries of the country. who attended the game on the big screen at the ground and on TV, Neeraj was not even shown once. The camera at the ground failed to recognize or spot India’s most decorated sportsperson in the last five years.

The 25-year-old has now reacted to the snub by the cameramen at the stadium. In an interview with the Indian Express, Neeraj spoke on how he felt when the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh were continuously shown in the big screen and he was not. As expected, Neeraj came up with a very Neeraj-like response, saying that he does think too much about these things. However, Neeraj said, not showing his matches on TV troubles him.

“I want them to show me when I compete. When I participate in the Diamond League they don’t telecast it properly. Woh cheez hai asli (that’s the real deal). At that time, they only show highlights. I went to Ahmedabad. just to watch the match and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

“I would have obviously enjoyed it more had India won, but I had a good time in the stands. I never wanted the camera to pan towards me, that thought didn’t even cross my head,” said Neeraj.

Who Is Neeraj Chopra’s Favorite Fast Bowler?

Neeraj was also quizzed about his favorite fast bowler in the Indian team and he took the name of Jasprit Bumrah. The dynamics of fast bowling and javelin throw are almost the same. The athlete runs in at fast pace, stops and then delivers the ball/throws the javelin. Neeraj finds Bumrah’s bowling action quite unique and also had an advice for India’s leading fast bowler. Neeraj advised Bumrah to lengthen his run-up as doing it will help him extract more pace.

The star javelin thrower has won almost everything that is there to be won for a Track and Field athlete. From Olympics gold to World title to Diamond League trophy, Neeraj has it all. However, there is one small dream of his which is still unfulfilled, which is to participate and win the top honors at an international event in India. Neeraj hopes that global event is hosted soon.

  • ‘Humanitarian Pause Ended Because Of Hamas…: Blinken As Israel-Hamas Fighting Resumes | world news

New Delhi: The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken blamed Hamas for ending the pause in the Israel-Hamas conflict, saying the terror group violated its commitments. He spoke to the media at Dubai airport on Saturday, after his second visit to the West Bank since the war began. Blinken said he had urged Israel to take measures to protect civilians and provide humanitarian aid in Gaza, and that Israel had already acted on some of his suggestions, such as informing people about safe areas in Gaza. He said this was “very, very important”.

He also explained why the pause came to an end, accusing Hamas of launching an “atrocious terrorist attack” in Jerusalem, killing three people and injuring others, including Americans. He said Hamas also fired rockets before the pause was over, and failed to release some of the hostages it held.

Blinken reiterated US support for peace in the region, and said the US was working hard to secure the release of Israeli hostages. He said the US had achieved a seven-day pause, during which some people were able to return to their families, and that the US was pursuing the same process.

He added that the US also supported Israel’s right to defend itself from future attacks, but stressed the need to do so in a way that minimizes civilian casualties and ensures humanitarian assistance. He said the US was focused on both tasks at the same time.

He said the US remained “intensely focused” on getting everyone home, and that he had also worked on this issue on Saturday. He said the US was also trying to prevent the conflict from spreading or escalating in other places. He said the US was using its diplomacy to look at the long-term prospects for peace in Gaza, and for Israelis and Palestinians in general.

Blinken’s statement came as the truce between Israel and Hamas expired after seven days, according to CNN. The two sides could not agree on the release of more hostages held by Hamas. Israel and Hamas resumed their war in the Gaza Strip on Friday morning, with Israeli jets striking Hamas targets in Gaza shortly after the cease-fire ended at 7 am local time.

Blinken had met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah on Thursday, as reported by CNN. His visit was amid increased Israeli settler violence in the region following the October 7 attack on Israel.

  • 3 Indian-Origin Men Jailed For Attempted Murder Of Sikh Radio Host Over Anti-Khalistan Views In New Zealand | world news

New Delhi: A popular Sikh radio host in Auckland, who spoke against the Khalistan ideology, was brutally stabbed by a group of religious extremists in his driveway on December 23, 2020. Harnek Singh had to undergo multiple surgeries and received more than 350 stitches for his over 40 stab wounds, according to the Australia Today website. Three Indian-origin men were convicted for the attempted murder. Sukhpreet Singh, 44, was an accessory, and Sarvjeet Sidhu, 27, admitted to attempted murder.

The third man, a 48-year-old Auckland resident, who remains nameless, was the mastermind behind the attack. He was sentenced to one of the longest prison terms for the crime, the New Zealand Herald newspaper reported.

At a hearing on November 28, a judge said that the case was highly unusual and required community protection and deterrence. The court heard that the third man had a long-standing grudge against Harnek for his anti-Khalistan views, Australia Today reported.

He plotted the “hit” and used his charisma to recruit others to carry out his plan, the judge said.

The judge, Woolford, said that the attack was motivated by religious fanaticism. “This kind of violence is committed for what is seen as the greater good…” “The sentencing in this context needs a different approach. The focus must be on safeguarding the community from more violence and it is vital to send a strong message of deterrence to others.” He imposed a sentence of 13-and-a-half years, with a minimum of nine years before he can apply for parole, the Herald reported.

The maximum sentence for attempted murder is 14 years. The only reason the third man did not get the full maximum sentence was that he got a six-month credit for the time he spent on electronic bail while waiting for his long trial in September and October, the judge said. Harnek did not attend the hearing but wrote a victim impact statement that was read by the prosecutors.

He said that his family lived in fear every day when the sun set. He also addressed the defendants directly. He said: “You came to kill me. …You tried to silence me. You wanted to send a chilling message to all those who disagree with your unconventional religious views. But you failed. …I will keep expressing my opinions and beliefs as I always have.”
