  • Nitish Kumar says ‘not upset’ with INDIA bloc’s proposal on Kharge’s name |

In a move to end scepticism over a possible rift within the INDIA bloc, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said he did not convey any willingness to get a post in the bloc, emphasising that he is not ‘upset’.

The chief minister added that he will be on board with whatever decision the bloc takes.

The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc of the Opposition met in New Delhi last week for its fourth meeting. The meeting came after Congress suffered a major setback in three states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

During the meeting, key opposition leaders recommended Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s name for the prime ministerial post.

In August, Nitish Kumar had reiterated that he did not want the post of national convener of the INDIA bloc, adding that his move to drive the Opposition into unity was not motivated by “personal ambition.”

Meanwhile, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi dialled up Kumar after reports surfaced that he is unhappy with the bloc and how it is advancing. The INDIA bloc meeting concluded with the decision that a call on seat sharing ahead of Lok Sabha elections 2024 would be taken soon.

Currently, the INDIA bloc has set a deadline of December 31 for seat sharing. The Opposition bloc has also decided to launch nationwide public meetings soon. A special focus will also be put on Uttar Pradesh ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

On the other hand, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has set a goal of securing 50 per cent vote share in the next Lok Sabha elections. The party has also announced the beginning of cluster meetings from January 15 while the Yuva Morcha will hold around 5,000 conferences across the country.

The cluster meetings will be attended and addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP President JP Nadda.

Meanwhile, the BJP Yuva Morcha will begin a new campaign for new voters across the nation from January 24.

  • C-Voter 2024 Opinion Poll: Historic Third Term For Modi Or South To Give Congress An Edge? |

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have been working hard to prepare their poll strategies for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. While the BJP has set an ambitious target of winning 400 seats in the next election, the Congress and INDIA bloc are working to finalize a seat-sharing deal to defy the Modi might. Now, an opinion poll by C-Voter has given some crucial insights into the possible seat projections for both the parties in South India and the northern states.

The survey gave an upper hand to the BJP in the north but favoured the Congress-led bloc in the South. In Madhya Pradesh (29 seats), the BJP is likely to win 27-29 seats and Congress 0-2 while in Rajasthan (25 seats), the BJP may get 23-25 seats and Congress 0-2 seats. Of the 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh, the BJP may win 9-11 and the Congress 0-2.

In Karnataka where the BJP lost the assembly election earlier this year, the party is likely to win 22-24 seats while Congress has 4-6 seats of the total 28 seats. In Telangana, the second southern state in full control of the Congress party, the BJP may get only 1-3 seats while the Congress may get 9-11 seats and the BRS 3-5 seats of the total 17 seats.

These states have a total of 110 seats and the BJP is likely to win around 83-85 seats.

On the other hand, there are 223 Lok Sabha seats in five key states – Punjab, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Of these, the BJP+ is likely to win 125-130 seats. These states play a pivotal role in sending any party to power. Of the 80 seats of Uttar Pradesh, the NDA-led by BJP is likely to win 73-75 seats, while Congress + SP 4-6 seats and BSP 0-2 seats.

In Punjab, despite the state having an Aam Aadmi Party government, the Congress has emerged favourites in the survey. According to it, of the 13 Lok Sabha seats, Congress may win 5-7, AAP 4-6, BJP 0-2 seats and Shiromani Akali Dal 0-2 seats.

Of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, Congress+ (Shiv Sena-UBT, NCP-Sharad Pawar and Congress) may get 26-28 seats while the BJP+ (BJP, Shiv Sena-Shinde and NCP-Ajit Pawar) may get 19-21 seats and others 0-2 seats.

Of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal where the BJP will face the might of Trinamool Congress, the saffron party is likely to win 16-18 seats while the ruling TMC may bag 23-25 seats and Congress+ (Congress, CPM) 0-2 seats.

In Bihar where 40 Lok Sabha seats will go to the polls, Congress+ (Congress, JDU and RJD) may win 21-23 seats, BJP+ (BJP, LJP-Ram Vilas, LJP-Pashupati Kumar Paras, HAM) 16-18 seats and others 0-2 seats.

In total, these 10 states have 333 seats of which the NDA is likely to win around 210 seats. If this survey is to be believed, the BJP will face an uphill task of winning 90 seats of the remaining 212 seats which includes 39 in Tamil Nadu, 25 in Andhra Pradesh, 20 In Kerala, 21 in Odisha, 14 in Assam and 26 in Gujarat. While the BJP might sweep Gujarat and Assam, it faces the mammoth task of breaching the Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Dravidian fort Tamil Nadu.

The BJP, which is planning to register a victory greater than 2019 by winning around 400 seats or at least more than 350 seats, may see its ‘2024 record’ dream being spoiled by states like Bihar, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Southern belt. If these surveys are to be believed, the NDA may secure a majority securing a historic third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi but only with many seats that it bagged in the 2019 polls.

According to reports, researchers employed technology similar to ChatGPT to gather data using an algorithm called life2vec. This AI model considers factors such as income, occupation, location, and health history to generate results, aiming for a 78 percent accuracy level- an acceptable standard. The researchers adopt an intriguing theory, likening life events to languages spoken as the basis for their AI models.

    Results of Life2vec

The AI model demonstrates its capability to provide results for both men and women by analyzing their histories. The team tested Life2vec on around 6 million Danish people from both genders between 2008 to 2020.

They were able to identify who was to live after Jan 1, 2016, and were impressed with the outcome they got from the AI, by feeding all kinds of data into the AI model.

    Why Is It Relevant?

The team explained that many variables of people for instance, Life insurance needs the life expectancy of a person, hence having this data in hand can make things easier and the data clarity will benefit both the parties involved.

Regarding ethics and privacy, they do not disclose the specific death dates provided by the AI model during the test.

  • ‘When will the pilot sink and when?’… Minister Brijmohan Aggarwal took a dig at the change in Congress in-charge, saying – First he sank the boat in Rajasthan, now he has sent it to sink here…

Raipur. Minister Brijmohan Aggarwal has taken a dig at the Congress over the change in its in-charge. Brijmohan Aggarwal said, Congress will be marginalized again. There is no confidence as to when the pilot will sink and when he will blow up. First the boat was sunk in Rajasthan and now it has been sent to sink here.

On the statement of PCC Chief Deepak Baij that “there is no issue other than Ram”, Brijmohan Aggarwal countered and said that only 15 days have passed. Congress is scared and nervous. This is the reason for great confidence with the youth.

  • Pakistan is preparing to sell Gilgit-Baltistan to China! This is how the game is being played…

Like Aksai Chin, Pakistan is going to hand over Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) of Jammu and Kashmir to China. But for this a game is being played, in which the Pakistan government has prepared a new deal with China to hand it over for 50 years. The reason for this is the poor economic condition of the country and tension with America.

Giving this information in his editorial written in ‘The Eurasian Times’, senior journalist RC Ganju said that the acting Federal Information, Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Murtaza has denied this. On the other hand, North Gilgit-Baltistan province and the Chinese province Gansu signed a memorandum of understanding on December 9, 2023. The MoU is to transfer high-mountain agriculture technology and machinery to the hilly region to help local farmers increase production of various crops.

In China, Gansu province is the center of the Belt and Road Initiative, and Gilgit-Baltistan is the gateway to CPEC. Under the pretext of improving communications between these two regions, the Chinese government will help the government of Gilgit-Baltistan to develop “agriculture, food security and human and livestock development”.

It is pertinent to mention that GB is not officially a part of Pakistan, but is part of the disputed Kashmir that is administered by Pakistan. The region is Pakistan’s only land link to China and is at the center of the US$65 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) infrastructure development plan.

CPEC started in 2013, in which 62 billion US dollars have been spent so far. But now debt-ridden Pakistan is looking for a loan to repay the old debt. Anyone who gives – and on any terms – should be heartily embraced. The ‘unbreakable bonds’ of Pakistan-China friendship are under strain.

According to IMF data, China holds about US$30 billion of Pakistan’s total external debt of US$126 billion. This is equal to its IMF loan (US$7.8 billion) and more than its borrowings from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.

The original state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), spread over 2,22,236 square km, joined India in October 1947. But today India has only 1,06,566 square km of physical part of the original state of Jammu and Kashmir. Whereas Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK) is 72,935 square km. In 1963, Pakistan illegally leased the Shaksgam Valley (Indian territory in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK)) to China in exchange for military and nuclear technology.

In recent months, China and Pakistan have signed bilateral agreements on various issues including mineral exploration, processing and extraction, climate protection, industrial production, commerce, communications, transport, connectivity, food security, media, space cooperation, urban development, capacity building and vaccine development. More than 30 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) have been signed in the sectors.

Pakistan handed over the Shasgam Valley to appease China and get help and support for its cause when it fully claimed Jammu and Kashmir at the UN and other international forums. Pakistan knows that no legal document supports its occupation of the Jammu and Kashmir region, and it only has the UN card in its favor.

The then Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru declared the Jammu and Kashmir issue as disputed. But in reality there is no such dispute as per the Instrument of Accession of 1947 when Jammu and Kashmir fully acceded to India, which was signed by Maharaja Hari Singh.

The claim of Muslim population backfired as the people of Jammu and Kashmir and PoK never supported Pakistan’s illegal occupation or claim and they asked Pakistan to immediately vacate their area. Pakistan uses this as an opportunity to work with China to maintain that Jammu and Kashmir is disputed, so that its point of view can be given importance. Thus the Shashagen Valley gifted to China is nothing but appeasement politics to counter India’s legal claim on Jammu and Kashmir!

Pakistan is so badly poor, suspicious and corrupt that it freely gifted Gilgit-Baltistan along with two Sindh islands to China. At best, it is deliberately exchanging/selling the Sindh islands to cash in, with the ulterior motive of deliberately bringing the troublesome and cunning dragon to India’s doorstep.

Pakistan has already earned a lot of Chinese money by selling India’s legally owned PoK assets, especially in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. But China and Pakistan are playing with fire.

The question is, how can Pakistan sell the disputed property to China, and how can China accept the land from Pakistan, knowing full well that India has a legal claim on it? India has strongly and clearly protested before the world against this fraudulent and suspicious deal.

  • ‘Sanjay Singh Not My Relative…’: Ex-WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Distances Self As Ministry Suspends New Body |

New Delhi: Former chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has distanced himself from the controversy over the suspension of the newly elected WFI body by the Union Sports Ministry. He said that he had nothing to do with the wrestling federation anymore and that he had to focus on the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Singh, who is also the MP from Nandini Nagar, where the U-15 and U-20 nationals were announced to be held before the end of this year, said that the WFI elections were held on the directions of the Supreme Court and the body was formed democratically. He also denied that the new WFI president Sanjay Singh was his relative and said that the nationals were decided to be held in Nandini Nagar to resume the sports activities and not waste a year of young wrestlers.

VIDEO | “WFI elections were held on SC directions. Further, Sanjay Singh is not my relative. To resume the sports activities and not waste a year of young wrestlers, it was decided to conduct the games in Nandini Nagar. Now, I do not have anything to do with wrestling and have to… pic.twitter.com/8bf9xC0Lnk
    — Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) December 24, 2023

He said that whatever decision had to be taken would be taken by the new federation, which was suspended by the ministry on Sunday over its ‘hasty’ announcement to hold the nationals.

The ministry issued a letter stating that the decision was taken by Sanjay Singh without giving sufficient notice to the wrestlers, without following the provisions of the WFI constitution, and without involving the secretary general of the federation.

The letter also alleged that the new WFI body was in complete control of the former office bearers, who are facing allegations of sexual harassment of the players. The ministry said that the actions of the new WFI body demonstrated a blatant disregard for the established legal and procedural norms, violating both the WFI’s constitutional provisions and the National Sports Development Code.

The ministry added that adherence to governance norms was vital for ensuring fair play, transparency and accountability, and building trust among athletes, stakeholders, and the public.

  • ‘Shaheen Afridi Will Become A Medium Pacer…’, Waqar Younis Tears Into PAK Fast Bowler For Lack Of Pace | cricket news

Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi is struggling for wickets on the ongoing tour of Australia. In the first Test, he bowled 45.2 overs and picked just two wickets. He didn’t look like the Shaheen of the past. In fact, since coming back from injury earlier this year, Shaheen has lookedfar from his best.

Known all over the world for being a serious pace attack, Pakistan fast bowlers have suddenly come down to 130-140 kph range in the international matches. Apart from Shaheen and Hasan Ali, there is no other experienced pacer too in the lineup.

Pakistan bowling great Waqar Younis tore into Shaheen and the management for the lack of pace of their premier fast bowler. Waqar said that at this point of time Shaheen looks like a medium pacer and not a genuine pacer for which he was known for. “I am not really sure what is wrong with him. If he is not fit, if he has got some issues, I think he needs to go away from the game and fix that. Because if you are going to carry on like that, you are going to become a medium pacer,” Waqar told ESPNcricinfo.

The Pakistan legend also pointed out that Shaheen used to touch 150 kph mark in the past but today, he has brought his pace down to 130 kph. “He (Shaheen) used to bowl at 145 to 150 kph speeds on odd days. And used to swing that ball. What I am seeing currently that he has some swing but his pace is way down. He is bowling around 130 to 132 kph If he is not going to take wickets here (in Australia), you are not getting it anywhere,” added Waqar.

Pakistan begin their quest to win a Test in Australia on December 26 at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). If the poor form of their cricketers was not enough, the team has been hit by injuries to some key players. After mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed was ruled out due to an injury, another spinner in the form of Noman Ali has fallen prey to an ailment. He got ruled out after scans showed acute appendicitis. “Noman Ali complained of sudden and severe abdominal pain yesterday, leading to examinations and scans in emergency that confirmed a diagnosis of acute appendicitis,” a PCB release issued on Saturday (December 23) stated. “On Surgeon advice; he underwent Laparoscopic Appendectomy today in the morning. Post surgery he is stable and doing fine.”

This injury has further dented their hopes of winning the 2nd Test. Pakistan have Sajid Khan as the lone spinner in the squad and they may or may not opt to go with him in the Boxing Day Test.
