  • CM Sai will go to Bastar tomorrow, will attend the nomination rally of BJP candidate Mahesh Kashyap, till now five people have filled nomination forms.

    Jagdalpur. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai will be on Jagdalpur tour on Wednesday. CM Bastar will participate in the nomination rally for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections. The Chief Minister will reach Jagdalpur Airport at 12:15. From 12:20 to 1:50 he will address the gathering at the Mission Ground. Let us tell you that till now a total of five candidates have filed seven nomination papers for Bastar Lok Sabha constituency.

    After the meeting, Bastar Lok Sabha candidate Mahesh Kashyap along with Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, State President Kiran Dev, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap will reach Jagdalpur election office and file nomination. Let us inform that for the first phase of elections in Chhattisgarh under the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, Kawal Singh Baghel as the candidate of Rashtriya Jan Sabha Party, Mahesh Ram Kashyap as the candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party, Bahujan Samaj Party for Bastar Lok Sabha constituency today. Aaytu Ram Mandavi as the candidate of BJP and Narendra Burka as the candidate of Hamar Raj Party submitted their nomination papers.

    It is noteworthy that the last date for filing nomination papers by the candidates for Bastar Lok Sabha constituency under the first phase of voting in the state is March 27. Nominations can be filed from 11 am to 3 pm on office days, except public holidays. The scrutiny of nomination papers received will be done on March 28. Candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination till 30th March.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reached out to BJP candidates of two crucial states – Kerala and Bengal.     Prime Minister Modi talked to Prof TN Sarasu who is the BJP candidate from the Alathur Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. During the conversation, she informed PM Modi that there is a problem with cooperative banks in Kerala which are governed by the CPI(M) leaders. “They loot the money that the poor people deposited in the bank. They are not getting back their money. So, there is a great complaint from the people here…Could you do something against this?” said Sarasu.

    PM Modi then told her, “I am happy that as a candidate, you are taking up the issues of the people. It’s a good thing for any public servant…Yes, I have heard about it. I have some details about it and you are right that a lot of poor people have been affected. Our government will take strict action against everyone involved and we will ensure that the poor get justice…I will take the legal advice and whatever property the ED will attach, if the common man’s money is involved, I will see that every penny should return to the person concerned. We will do that strictly.”

    PM Modi’s Conversation With Bengal Candidate

    Prime Minister Modi also spoke to Rekha Patra, BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Bengal’s Basirhat and one of the Sandeshkhali victims. The senior BJP leader spoke to Patra about her Lok Sabha campaign preparations. While talking to her, PM Modi called her ‘Shakti Swaroopa’. Shakti is a Hinduism term associated with goddesses like Durga and Kali. Patra narrated the ordeal faced by women of Sandeshkhali.

    Boosting Cadre’s Morale

    The BJP has been galvanising its grassroots cadre in Kerala and West Bengal besides southern states like Tamil Nadu and Telangana. While the BJP has bettered its presence and vote share in Bengal, in Kerala, the saffron party is yet to open its account in the Lok Sabha. There are at least five seats in Kerala where the BJP has increased its vote shares and the party is now looking to translate it into the winning seats. PM Modi’s conversation with the candidates will send out a message that the person sitting on the highest echelons of the BJP is looking after the party candidates. This will boost the cadre’s morale ahead of the voting for the Lok Sabha polls.

Spending time together as a family, feeling normal for two months – for me, for my family – it was a surreal experience.”

    Why questions on Kohli’s selection in T20 World Cup?

    It is noteworthy that during his entire T20 career, Virat Kohli has scored 12,092 runs in 378 matches at an average of 41.26, which includes eight centuries and 92 fifties. His best score is 122*. Virat is the highest T20 run scorer for India and is at sixth position overall. But for some time now he has not been able to do anything special in T20 International. This is the reason why there is doubt about Kohli’s inclusion in the team for this global tournament.

    Kohli recently tried to bat aggressively in the home T20 series against Afghanistan before the five-match Test series against England, but he could not make an impact in that series. Kohli’s best score against Afghanistan was 29 runs. According to media reports, the selectors believe that the slow wicket in West Indies does not suit Kohli’s natural game.     New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal against BJP MP Dilip Ghosh for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The complaint alleged that the former BJP state president made derogatory and offensive remarks about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. 

    Reacting to Dilip Ghosh’s controversial remark on Mamata Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress termed the former BJP state chief a disgrace in the name of a political leader. In a statement posted on X, the official handle of Trinamool criticised the BJP leader, “From challenging the lineage of Maa Durga to now questioning the ancestry of Mamata Banerjee, he has wallowed in the filthiest depths of moral bankruptcy.”

    Addressing media during his campaign trail, the BJP MP said, “Didi goes to Goa and says, ‘I am Goa’s daughter’, then goes to Tripura and says, ‘I am Tripura’s daughter’. Decide who your father is? It is not good to be just anybody’s daughter,” he said on the camera. 

    The TMC said that Ghosh has zero respect for women of Bengal. “One thing is crystal clear: Ghosh has ZERO RESPECT for the women of Bengal, whether it be the revered goddess of Hinduism or the only woman Chief Minister of India,” said the ruling party.

    This criticism echoes a previous controversy surrounding Dilip Ghosh’s remarks on Goddess Durga in 2021, where he questioned Maa Durga’s lineage. “Lord Ram was an emperor. Some consider him an avatar. We know the names of his ancestors. Do we know the same about Durga?” Ghosh said.

    Meanwhile, BJP released the list of 19 candidates for Bengal. BJP has fielded Rekha Patra from Basirhat, who is a resident of Sandeshkhali. It was she who first raised the voice of the women of Sandeshkhali.

    Pakistan today witnessed a series of terrorist attacks and anti-terrorist operations in many parts of the country. Several terrorists attacked the Turbat naval air base in Balochistan while in another suicide bombing attack, five Chinese nationals were killed at Besham city of Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. In another anti-terror operations details of which was released earlier today, Pakistani security forces killed at least four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province yesterday. The operation took place on Monday in the Dera Ismail Khan district.

    Suicide Bombing

    As per reports, five Chinese nationals were killed in Besham city. The Chinese nationals were traveling in a vehicle when another explosive-laden vehicle rammed into it killing all the occupants. Both the vehicles fell into the gorge. The videos that have gone viral on social media show plumes of smoke and fire rising from the valley. The Chinese engineers were on their way from Islamabad to their camp in Dasu.

    Pakistan’s privatization Minister Abdul Aleem Khan termed the attack ‘incredibly upsetting’. “The enemy is targeting Pak-China friendship and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under a well-thought conspiracy but the nation, along with the Pakistan Army, will thwart all evil plots,” he said on X.

    Attack On Turbat Naval Air Base

    Baloch militants armed with weapons attempted to breach a key naval air base in Pakistan’s volatile Balochistan province on the intervening night of March 25–26. However, security forces successfully thwarted the assault, resulting in the elimination of all four terrorists. The incident occurred on Monday night in Turbat, a district known for its unrest within the scarcely inhabited province. Makran Commissioner Saeed Ahmed Umrani informed the media that security forces effectively prevented an armed terrorist incursion at the PNS Siddique Naval Air Base, one of the largest naval air stations in the nation.

    The banned Balochistan Liberation Army claimed that its Majeed Brigade was behind the attack. This is the third major attack on security forces and installations this year in Balochistan claimed by the BLA with the first two attacks being also being repulsed by security forces.

  • Digital Markets Act: EU Starts Probe Into Apple, Meta, Google Under New Digital Law |

    New Delhi: The European Union (EU) has started an investigation into big tech giants Apple, Google parent Alphabet and Meta, in its first probe under the sweeping new Digital Markets Act (DMA) tech legislation. The EU has started the investigation after the potential breaches of the newly enacted anti-trust law. 

    The suite of probes announced are the first under the EU’s Digital Markets Act law, which took effect earlier this month. 

    The DMA has categorized six major tech firms — Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, ByteDance, Meta, and Microsoft — as gatekeepers, mandating their adherence to specific provisions to boost more competition in digital markets, including allowing third-party app stores.

    The European Commission announced five investigations into Apple, Google, and Meta’s compliance with the DMA, with completion expected within 12 months. (Also Read: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus Get Price Cuts In India On Flipkart, Starting At Rs 56,999)

    Apple and Alphabet (Google’s parent company) will undergo EU scrutiny regarding how they enable app developers to shift consumers to third-party app stores without charges. Adding further, the European Union will also examine changes that Google made to how its search results appear in Europe. 

    Another investigation will focus on Apple’s adherence to rules facilitating the easy removal of apps and changes to default settings on iPhones, along with how the company presents choice screens for alternative search engines and browsers.

    Meta’s ‘pay or consent’ model, requiring users to pay for data protection and ad-free experiences on Facebook and Instagram, will also be examined.

    The EU’s recent law, effective this month, mandates major tech companies to follow numerous new rules, aiming to enhance competition from smaller entities in digital advertising, online search, and app ecosystems.

    This development follows the enforcement of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) by the European Union, aimed at targeting the market clout of big technology companies and making it easier for people to move between competing services.
