  • DNA Exclusive: Analysing Global Impact Of Singapore’s Covid-19 Wave | India News

New Delhi: The coronavirus is spreading rapidly in Singapore again, causing hospital beds to fill up quickly. Authorities have reintroduced mask mandates, reminiscent of the panic seen during the initial outbreaks in 2020 and subsequent waves in 2021-22. In Today’s DNA, Zee News anchor Sourabh Raaj Jain analysed the alarming situation of coronavirus infection in Singapore and its significance globally.

The resurgence of COVID-19 in Singapore is alarming, with health officials predicting a peak in the next two to four weeks. Two strains of the FLiRT variant, KP.1 and KP.2, have spread rapidly. The Ministry of Health reported 25,900 new cases between May 5 and May 11, a significant increase from the 13,700 cases reported the previous week. Hospital admissions have risen from 181 to 250 daily, and ICU admissions have increased from two to three patients per day.

In response, Singapore’s Health Ministry is ramping up preparations for the new wave. Hospitals have been instructed to increase the number of available beds and reduce elective surgeries. People are being advised to stay home and seek treatment there when possible. Health Minister Ong Ye Kung has urged individuals, especially those with serious illnesses or those aged 60 and above, to get a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The rise in cases of the KP.1 and KP.2 variants is not limited to Singapore; the United States has also seen increases, with the KP.2 variant accounting for 28 percent and the KP.1 variant for 7.1 percent of cases. Approximately 200 cases of these variants have been reported in India. While no new restrictions have been imposed in Singapore, the rapid resurgence of the virus is a cause for concern globally.

  • Amidst Divorce Rumors With Natasa Stankovic, Hardik Pandya Absent from Team India’s Departure for T20 World Cup 2024 | Cricket News

India all-rounder and Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has had a difficult time in the last 8 months. He injured his leg while fielding off his own bowling against Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup game after which he was ruled out of the tournament. He missed many series for India as he recovered from the injury. Then, he took a decision which has brought him only hate not just on social media but also on the ground. The decision to come back to MI and then being named as captain has not gone down well with the fans.

Hardik made his comeback at the IPL and was constantly booed by the crowd. It didn’t stop even at MI’s home pitch Wankhede. Instead, the volume of the booeing only grew. Hardik was terribly out of form throughout the season. The only good things that happened was that he was not dropped from the BCCI’s annual pay contract and was named in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad as well.

As soon as the IPL came to an end, the rumours of his alleged divorce with wife Natasa Stankovic began to float on social media. Some of the activities of the two on Instagram have fuelled the rumours. They both have no more comments on each other’s post on Instagram. The ‘likes’ are also missing. Natasa was out in the streets of Mumbai and was quizzed about the divorce rumours and she remained silent.

On the same night, Team India left for USA to take part in the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli and Hardik were two big players who were not present at the airport. It is being reported that Virat did not go with the team because of some paperwork issues which will be sorted by the end of the month. But fans are speculating why Hardik was not present.

There have been reports of rift between Hardik and India captain Rohit Sharma. The rumours of the divorce are already rife. Fans are speculating whether the rumoured divorce is the reason behind Hardik’s absence in Team India’s departure.

Hardik made it to the 15-man squad for the World Cup on the back of reputation and not form. The selection committee hopes that India’s best fast-bowling all-rounder will come back to form in the mega event.

  • IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Mumbai Indians can retain these 3 players, will both Rohit and Pandya be cut?

IPL 2025 Mega Auction: The 17th match of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL season is very bad for Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians (MI) became the first team to be eliminated in IPL, Mumbai had to face defeat in 10 matches out of 14 matches played in the current season. Now IPL is in its final stage, with this various discussions have started regarding the 18th session in the year 2025.

In fact, except for the century of former Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma, no one could perform well, due to which both the players are under question. At the same time, there are 3 players whom Mumbai would like to retain at any cost. Who are those players? Let’s know about them.

    hardik pandya

Mumbai Indians would like to retain their captain Hardik Pandya first. Even though the team’s performance under his leadership was very poor in IPL 2024, despite this the franchise would like to give him a long chance. When Hardik was made the captain, the logic behind it was that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the future. In such a situation, after just one season’s poor performance, it does not seem that Hardik will be removed from the captaincy and released from the team.

    Jasprit Bumrah

The Mumbai Indians team would definitely want to retain Jasprit Bumrah. Because Bumrah is currently the best fast bowler in the world. He has the ability to take wickets in any situation and has been performing well consistently. Bumrah also performed well in IPL 2024 and took the highest number of 20 wickets for the team. This is the reason why the franchise can retain him.

    Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav is currently the number 1 batsman in T20. He is known for his 360° batting. Suryakumar Yadav has been associated with Mumbai since 2018 and is consistently performing well. He has also scored 3 centuries for Mumbai Indians and has also given many match-winning performances, scoring 345 runs in 11 matches during the current IPL season. Suryakumar is the pivot of the middle order and has the ability to win matches on his own, due to which the franchise can retain him.
