  • Turkey’s Erdogan Breaks Tradition, Skips Kashmir Mention In UNGA Address Signaling Diplomatic Shift | world news

In a notable shift, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan did not mention Kashmir in his annual address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) this year, breaking a tradition he has upheld since 2019. This change is significant, as Erdogan has consistently raised the Jammu and Kashmir issue, especially after India abrogated Article 370 and eliminated the region’s special status.

His past remarks were often viewed as unwarranted interference in India’s domestic affairs, which New Delhi has consistently rejected. Since 2019, Erdogan has utilized his UNGA platform to criticize India’s policies in Jammu and Kashmir, claiming that peace, prosperity, and stability were absent in the Valley.

However, during his speech at the UNGA in New York on Tuesday, Erdogan primarily focused on the Israel–Gaza conflict, sharply criticizing the UN for what he called turning Palestinian territory into the “world’s largest cemetery.” His omission of Kashmir was particularly notable, though the reasons for this change remain unclear.

It’s possible that India’s rising global status influenced Erdogan’s decision. His softened stance on Kashmir might be a strategic diplomatic maneuver aimed at improving relations with India.

In 2019, shortly after India’s revocation of Article 370, Erdogan stated at the UNGA, “In order for the Kashmiri people to look at a safe future together with their Pakistani and Indian neighbours, it is imperative to solve the problem through dialogue and on the basis of justice and equity, not through clashes.”

He asserted that millions in the region were “virtually under blockade” and required international attention. The following year, in 2020, Erdogan reiterated his focus on the Kashmir issue, describing the Kashmir “conflict” as a “burning issue” and adding that actions taken after the abolition of special status “further complicated the problem.”

He also called for a resolution through dialogue in line with UN resolutions. India has responded firmly to Erdogan’s comments over the years, with representatives at the UN, including TS Tirumurti, the then Permanent Representative to the UN, urging Turkey to respect other nations’ sovereignty and to reflect on its own policies rather than interfere in India’s internal matters.

Erdogan has been openly nurturing closer ties with Pakistan. During his February 2020 visit to Pakistan, he pledged ongoing support for Islamabad’s position on Kashmir while addressing a joint session of the Pakistani Parliament. Since then, Erdogan has continued to strengthen relations with Pakistan.

Despite raising concerns about Kashmir from 2021 to 2023 and maintaining an anti-India stance, Erdogan’s rhetoric at the UNGA this year lacked any mention of the region, possibly indicating a shift in Turkey’s international priorities and reflecting India’s increasing influence as a global power.

  • Did You Know How Many Smartphone Users Will Use Digital Identity Wallets By 2026?: Reports |

New Delhi: At least 500 million smartphone users globally will regularly make verifiable claims using a digital identity wallet (DIW) by 2026, a report said on Tuesday.

Identity verification establishes confidence in the identity of a person during a digital interaction when curated credentials do not exist, are not available or do not provide sufficient assurance.

However, due to challenges with the traditional IDV model, solutions based on portable digital identity (PDI) have emerged, according to a Gartner report.

“The market is entering a transition period as PDI solutions are starting to mature, which in the next five years, will reduce the demand for standalone IDV,” said Akif Khan, VP Analyst at Gartner.

The current IDV model of a user being asked to do the ID-plus-selfie process repeatedly, is not ideal. Khan said that the processes in place today are focused and limited to core identity data (name, date of birth, address etc.).

As more and more processes move online, there is a need to tie many other attributes to a user’s identity, such as educational or workplace qualifications, proof of employment, not to mention healthcare data, Khan noted.

A PDI is best defined as a digital identity that contains all the necessary attributes for identifying someone in the digital world. PDI also means that the user maintains some level of control over security and privacy.

According to the Gartner report, the principle of PDI is that the user formerly proves their identity with a trusted entity, and once authenticated, it is recorded as an identity assertion.

That identity assertation is either stored with the party that verified their identity (centralized model) or saved in a DIW on their smartphone (decentralised model).

The European Commission will also require all EU member states to make a DIW available to citizens by 2026.

  • Coach Kirsten put 3 conditions in front of Babar Azam and team, told how the old days of Pakistan cricket will return

Pakistan Cricket: The history of Pakistan cricket is full of many great players. Pakistan once had a strong hold on world cricket on the strength of great players like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, Imran Khan, Zaheer Abbas, and Javed Miandad, but in recent years this team is going through a bad phase. Its condition has become such that it is proving difficult for it to even win a Test series at home. Amidst this difficult period, coach Gary Kirsten has taken up the task of bringing back the golden days of Pakistan cricket.

Let us tell you that Pakistan has to play a series of 3 Test matches on its tour of England in October. Since playing the final of the T20 World Cup 2022, the team’s performance has declined. After failing to make it to the final 4 of the ODI World Cup in 2023, it was also eliminated in the first round of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Recently, the team lost the Test series 0-2 at home against Bangladesh.

One of the reasons for Pakistan’s poor performance is said to be factionalism in the team and to overcome this, the Pakistan Cricket Board organized a connection camp in which many players along with the coach participated. During this, a roadmap was prepared to improve the fortunes of Pakistan cricket.

Coach Kirsten laid down 3 conditions

Let us tell you that during the Connection Camp, the coach of the limited overs team Kirsten put three conditions in front of the players. Kirsten has demanded professional attitude, self-respect and unity from the players.

We need to change the system

Kirsten said that everyone wants the Pakistan team to be successful but some steps will have to be taken for this. He said, “I think we all want a successful team. We want the team to do well in everything. There is no reason why it should not do so. This is a very talented team. But you have to take some steps to be successful. Our focus is on this. We know that we need to change the system of the country. There is competition to make a place in the team.”

Pakistan will host Champions Trophy next year

Pakistan is scheduled to host the ODI format Champions Trophy, which is known as the mini World Cup, in their country next year. This trophy was last held in 2017, when Pakistan won it by defeating India. Now the team has to defend its title, which will prove to be a big assignment for coach Gary Kirsten.
