  • RG Kar Rape-Murder Case: Court Rejects CBI’s Plea For Narco Test Of Sanjay Roy |

    In a setback for the Central Bureau of Investigation in the RG Kar Medical College rape-murder case of a trainee doctor, the Sealdah Court in Kolkata has rejected the probe agency’s plea for the accused Sajay Roy’s narco-analysis test. The accused had earlier refused to give consent for Narco analysis test. Earlier, the CBI has conducted a polygraph test on Roy and several others involved in the case.

    In 2010, the Supreme Court had ruled that narco-analysis tests cannot be performed without the accused’s consent. While narco-analysis holds legal validity, courts may allow its limited admissibility, depending on the specific conditions under which the test was carried out.

    What is Narco Test?

    A narco test, or narcoanalysis, is an investigative technique used to gather information from an individual by administering a drug that induces a hypnotic or semi-conscious state. Sodium pentothal, commonly referred to as “truth serum,” is the drug typically employed in this process. This drug reduces a person’s self-awareness, enabling them to speak more openly and without restraint, which helps investigators gather more truthful responses.

    What Is The Case?

    The incident in question involves the alleged rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. The following day, Kolkata Police arrested Roy, identifying him as the prime suspect. Roy has maintained his innocence, asserting that he is being framed. On August 23, the Calcutta High Court transferred the investigation to the CBI.

    Sanjay Roy is currently being held at the Presidency Jail in Kolkata. Last week, a Kolkata court denied his bail request and extended his judicial custody until September 20. On Thursday, the CBI obtained dental impressions and saliva samples from Sanjoy Roy. These samples will be compared to the bite marks discovered on the trainee doctor’s body to help determine his potential involvement in the crime.

  • Collector-SP Conference: CM Sai reviewed the law and order situation in the state, said- criminals should have fear of law in their minds

    Shivam Mishra, Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has said that criminals should fear the law and victims should get speedy justice. The general public should have faith in the police administration. No citizen should be harassed without reason. The police should behave friendly with the common citizens. The atmosphere of police stations should be such that the common citizen should expect cooperation while entering the police station. He was reviewing the law and order situation in the state on the second day of the Collector-SP Conference at the New Circuit House in the capital today.

    Chief Minister Sai said that to control crime in the state, the Collector and SP should coordinate with each other and ensure effective action. He said that the Central Government has changed the Penal Code to the Judicial Code. While ensuring its implementation on the ground, the police will have to mold themselves to work in accordance with these new laws. He said that our government is committed to providing good governance, and the number of crimes has decreased compared to previous years.

    There is a need to promote social policing afresh

    The Chief Minister said that there is a need to promote social policing in the state afresh, this will help in preventing crimes. People have to be made aware and they have to be assured that the police is with them. There should be no delay in action in cases like murder and ensure quick action in such cases on priority. The Chief Minister said that district banishment and restrictive action should not stop.     While reviewing the Raipur range, Chief Minister Sai laid special emphasis on the quality of policing in the capital. He said that the police and revenue department should jointly keep a close watch on this problem and take immediate action.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gaurav Bhatia demanded the resignation of Kejriwal from the CM post and said, “‘jail wala’ CM is now a ‘bail wala’ CM”.

    While addressing a press conference, Bhatia stated that Kejriwal got conditional bail. He said, “The Supreme Court has shown a mirror to ‘kattar beimaan’ AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal once again… He has got conditional bail…” 

    “The ‘jail wala’ CM is now a ‘bail wala’ CM… The most important is that Arvind Kejriwal CM should resign as per the voice of the people of Delhi… But he will not do that because he does not have even a drop of morality…He used to say that a politician should resign even if there is an allegation,” Bhatia said. 

    He further added that Delhi CM is now out on bail but he was in jail for 6 months and not resigning.

Polls clearly show that I won the debate against Comrade Kamala Harris, the Democrats’ Radical Left Candidate, on Tuesday night, and she immediately called for a Second Debate,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

    The former president claimed that subjects like immigration and inflation were covered “in great detail” both in Tuesday night’s discussion with Harris and in his June debate with President Biden.

    Trump, in a strong attack on the Biden-Harris administration, said that they have ‘destroyed’ the country.

    “She and Crooked Joe have destroyed our country, with millions of criminals and mentally deranged people pouring into the USA, totally unchecked and unvetted, and with inflation bankrupting our middle class. Everyone knows this, and all of the other problems caused by Kamala and Joe. It was discussed in great detail during the first debate with Joe, and the second debate with Comrade Harris,” the former US President said.

    “She was a no-show at the Fox debate and refused to do NBC & CBS,” Trump said in his post, adding “KAMALA SHOULD FOCUS ON WHAT SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE DURING THE LAST ALMOST FOUR YEAR PERIOD. THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!”

    Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are the official presidential candidates of their respective parties, after they accepted the nomination at the conventions earlier this year.

    The US presidential elections are scheduled to be held on November 5 this year.

    Notably, the first presidential debate was held in June between President Biden and Trump, where the former’s performance expressed concerns over his age. Following this, Biden made an exit from the race and endorsed Harris.

    It is pertinent to note that Trump and Harris debated on Tuesday this week. It was their first meeting since Harris became the Democratic presidential nominee in late July, The Hill reported.

    The ultimate face off between Trump and Harris took place during the presidential debate conducted by ABC News on Tuesday (local time).
