  • Apple Watch Series 10 Likely To Feature Sensor To Detect Sleep Apnoea |

    New Delhi: The soon-to-be-launched Apple Watch Series 10 is likely to feature an upgraded ECG sensor that can help detect sleep apnoea, according to media reports. Sleep apnoea is a serious sleep disorder where breathing repeatedly stops and starts. People suffering from the condition repeatedly take pauses in breathing, as well as snort and gasp — all while in sleep. This lowers blood oxygen levels, making the condition potentially fatal.

    The reports noted that using the sleep tracking feature, the new Apple Watch Series 10 will be able to detect sleep apnoea in users. It can then alert the user and recommend further tests. Other key health features include a change in the processing of the health data collected by these sensors.

    This includes using new algorithms in the Health app on the iPhone to look for atrial fibrillation, rather than on the Apple Watch itself, the reports claimed. The highly-anticipated event, with a tagline “Its Glowtime” is expected to take place on September 9.

    Other potential features for the Watch Series 10 include slightly larger displays and a thinner case which will be available in both 44mm and 48mm sizes. Further, it is also likely to come with better water resistance to allow for support of the Apple Watch Ultra’s Depth app.

    Another feature expected is “Reflections,” a watch face that reacts to ambient light. Despite the new additions, Apple will not likely include the blood oxygen sensor feature which it removed from existing watches following a patent dispute with Masimo.

    Apple Watch is known to provide heart health features such as high and low heart notifications, cardio fitness, irregular rhythm notifications, the ECG app, and atrial fibrillation (AFib) history. It has also been instrumental in saving many lives.

    In May, Apple Watch Series 7 saved a Delhi woman’s life by alerting her abnormal heart rhythm. In January, a London-based doctor saved the life of an elderly woman mid-air using Apple Watch’s banned pulse oximeter that monitors blood oxygen levels.

    Last year, Apple Watch helped save a trail runner’s life by calling an ambulance after he fell during a run.

  • The High Court stayed the order of the state government and said that people above 55 years of age should not be transferred to Naxal-affected areas.

    Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. During the hearing of a case, the High Court said that employees and officers above the age of 55 years will not be transferred to scheduled and Naxal-affected areas. After hearing the petition, the High Court stayed the order of the state government and issued an order to post the petitioner in his former district. The case was heard in a single bench of Justice Sachin Singh Rajput.

    Actually, Kavita Chincholkar of Mahasamund was posted as an accountant in the Finance Department. On August 16, 2024, she was transferred from Mahasamund to Kanker district. Kavita Chincholkar filed a writ petition in the High Court against the order of the state government.     In a circular issued by the General Administration Department, Raipur, it is said that women government employees above the age of 55 years will not be posted in scheduled and Naxal-affected districts. Despite this, departmental officers violated the government’s instructions to post the petitioner Kavita Chincholkar in Kanker. After hearing the case, the court has cancelled the transfer order and issued an order to post the petitioner in Mahasamund.

    An urgent alert has been issued by The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) for google chrome users about serious new vulnerabilities. These issues known as CIVN-2024-0282 could allow remote attackers to gain authorised access to your computer.

    The flaws affect Chrome versions older than 128.0.6613.119/.120 on Windows and macOS, and versions prior to 128.0.6613.119 on Linux. It’s crucial to update your browser to the latest version to stay secure.

    The issues identified, marked as CVE-2024-8362 and CVE-2024-7970, involve “use after free” bugs in Chrome’s Web Audio component. These vulnerabilities give cybercriminals a chance to infiltrate your system and execute commands without your consent. This could allow attackers to take full control of your computer, potentially leading to data theft, malware installation, or further cyberattacks.

    CERT-IN has highlighted the seriousness of these vulnerabilities and warned that attackers could exploit them by luring users to malicious websites. This type of attack, called drive-by downloading, happens when simply visiting a compromised webpage can infect your system without any additional user action.

    Therefore, it’s important to be cautious about the websites you visit and the links you click, especially those from unknown or suspicious sources. Google, in response to these issues has released updates to fix the vulnerabilities. CERT-IN advises users to update their browsers to the latest version as soon as possible to ensure their security.

    Khairagarh SP said that at present the police has arrested seven members of this gang making fake liquor and has sent them to jail after registering a case against them under various sections.   • CM Himanta Sarma Announces New Requirement For Aadhaar Card Applicants In Assam |

    Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Saturday that all new Aadhaar card applicants in the state must provide their National Register of Citizens (NRC) application receipt number.

    According to PTI, he said that submission of the application receipt number of the NRC will prevent the “influx of illegal foreigners,” and the state government will be “very strict” in issuing Aadhaar cards.

    ”Applications for Aadhaar cards are more than the population…It indicates that there are doubtful citizens and we have decided that new applicants will have to submit their NRC application receipt number (ARN),”  Assam CM said, PTI reported. 

    While addressing the press conference today, Sarma also said that it will not be easy to get Aadhaar in Assam.

    The submission of the ARN will not apply to the 9.55 lakh people whose biometrics were locked during the NRC process, and they will get their cards, Sarma said, PTI reported. 

    He further added that it will not be applicable in the tea garden areas as many have not got their Aadhaar cards due to some practical difficulties like the non-availability of adequate biometric machines.

    He also pointed out four districts with more applications for Aadhaar cards than their total projected population. The districts named Barpeta with 103.74 per cent, Dhubri with 103 per cent, and both Morigaon and Nagaon with 101 per cent.

    ”In Assam, we have decided that Aadhaar cards will be issued to new applicants only after a no objection certificate is given by the district commissioner concerned. Such certificates will be issused after minutely examining all aspects. If the applicant has the NRC ARN, it becomes clear that he was in the state before 2014,” Sarma said, PTI reported.
