  • Vistara’s Delhi-London Flight Diverted To Frankfurt After Bomb Scare |

New Delhi: A London-bound Vistara flight from Delhi was diverted to Frankfurt on Friday following a bomb threat.

In a statement early Saturday morning, an airline spokesperson said the flight landed safely at the Frankfurt airport and mandatory checks are being conducted. The flight will continue to its destination once cleared by the security agencies.

“Vistara flight UK17 operating from Delhi to London on October 18, 2024 received a security threat on social media. In line with the protocol, all relevant authorities were immediately informed and as a precautionary measure, the pilots decided to divert the flight to Frankfurt,” the spokesperson said.

According to an official in the know, the flight had received a bomb threat.

Meanwhile, Akasa Air said its flight QP 1366 scheduled to fly from Bengaluru to Mumbai on Friday received a security alert shortly before departure.

“Hence as per safety and security procedures, all passengers had to be deplaned as the local authorities followed necessary procedures. We request your understanding as our team on ground did everything possible to reduce inconvenience,” the airline said in a post on X.

In the past few days, nearly 40 flights operated by the Indian carriers have received bomb threats which later turned out to be hoaxes.

The Civil Aviation Ministry plans to put in place strict norms to prevent incidents of hoax bomb threats to airlines, including placing the perpetrators in the no-fly list.

  • India Hits Back At Justin Trudeau Govt, Indicts Canada Border Police Official In Terror Case | India News

India-Canada Row: Justin Trudeau-led Canadian government has made false accusations against Indian diplomats by connecting them to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In response, India’s Ministry of External Affairs strongly rebuked Canada, stating that while the Trudeau government accuses India of using Lawrence Bishnoi’s name, it has shown leniency toward criminals associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The MEA said that India has sent 26 extradition requests to the Canada government, but no action has been taken. Furthermore, India has also appealed in 29 cases where wanted criminals should have been arrested, yet Canada has not acted on those either. In fact, one of the 26 extradition requests includes Canada’s border police – Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) – official Sandeep Singh Sidhu.

As per media reports, Sidhu, an employee of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and a member of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF), has been implicated in promoting terrorist activities in Punjab. Sidhu was allegedly in contact with Pakistan-based Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode and other ISI operatives to orchestrate the assassination of Balwinder Singh Sandhu in 2020. Sandhu, renowned for his battle against Khalistani militants during Punjab’s decade of insurgency, became a symbol of resistance to. the separatist movement.

While Canada tried to put the blame on India for political gain, the rejection of New Delhi’s extradition requests clearly indicates that Justin Trudeau’s government made false accusations against Indian diplomats.

According to several experts, Trudeau’s compulsion to appease Khalistani terrorists for vote bank politics is the reason behind his baseless accusation that India was involved in the killing of terrorist Hardeep Nijjar. There are over seven lakh Sikhs residing in Canada and the majority of them are voters of the North American country. While Khalistanis may be celebrating Trudeau’s conflict with India, Canadian citizens are beginning to question the narrative surrounding Hardeep Nijjar.

A Canadian opposition leader has accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of using Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s murder to divert attention from other controversies and asked the government to posthumously take away the Khalistani militant’s citizenship to correct the past administrative error. Maxime Bernier, the leader of the People’s Party of Canada, also said the Khalistani militant who is the central figure in the whole controversy was a foreign terrorist who was somehow granted citizenship in 2007, instead of deportation.

  • Tamil Nadu: CM Stalin Asks Modi Govt To Recall Governor Ravi Amid Anthem, Hindi Row |

In a fresh row between the Tamil Nadu government and Governor RN Ravi, Chief Minister MK Stalin has written to the Union Government to recall the governor over Hindi imposition and removing the ‘Dravida’ word from the Tamil anthem. Now, CM Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the centre to recall the governor for insulting national unity.

The incident pertains to the Chennai Doordarshan’s golden jubilee celebration event alongside the culmination of the Hindi month. CM Stalin said that the celebration of Hindi month in the non-Hindi-speaking state is an attempt to belittle other languages.

In Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Thai Vazhthu – the Tamil anthem, is sung at the beginning of every government programme. However, during the Doordarshan event, the artists singing the song skipped the line with the ‘Dravida’ word. While Doordarshan Tamil has apologised for the mistake saying that the error happened due to the singers being distracted, the political row continues over the incident.

I strongly condemn the celebration of Hindi Month valedictory function along with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Chennai Doordarshan.

    Hon’ble @PMOIndia,

The Constitution of India does not grant national language status to any language. In a multilingual nation, celebrating…
    — M.K.Stalin (@mkstalin) October 18, 2024

CM Stalin alleged that skipping the word is a violation of state law. He also accused the governor of insulting national unity by celebrating Hindi in a non-Hindi state.

“Will the governor who suffers from a Dravidian allergy ask them to leave out ‘Dravida’ in the national anthem? The Union Government should immediately recall the Governor who is deliberately insulting Tamil Nadu and the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu,” Stalin said on X.

On the other hand, Governor Ravi said Hindi should be celebrated alongside other languages and it should not be viewed as an imposition.

“First, when I came here, Hindi was not a welcome language in Tamil Nadu but when I started meeting students, I was happily surprised that their Hindi was better than mine. There is a greater acceptance of Hindi among the people of Tamil Nadu… Hindi is not a language of imposition of language in Tamil Nadu,” he told ANI.

Responding to the protests by the DMK and comments of CM Stalin, the Governor said that it was an attempt to isolate Tamil Nadu from the rest of India. He termed anti-Hindi protests and remarks a ‘toxic and separatist policy’.

  • TRAI Releases Consultation Paper On ‘Regulatory Framework For Ground-Based Broadcasters’ |

New Delhi: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued the Consultation Paper on ‘Regulatory framework for Ground-based Broadcasters’.

The Guidelines issued by MIB from time to time for Uplinking and Down linking of Satellite Television channels in India, containing the terms and conditions for TV broadcasting services, make it mandatory for the broadcasters to use satellite medium i.e. uplinking and down linking of television channels through satellite, for providing their channels to the Distribution Platform Operators (DPOs).

“The advancement of technology has made it feasible for the broadcasters to provide their television channels to DPOs terrestrially also i.e. using ground-based technologies. Like traditional TV channels, which are uplinked and downlinked through satellite, the terrestrially transmitted channels may also be carried on multiple DPO networks simultaneously and the DPOs can retransmit them on commercial terms to the subscribers. Therefore, there is a need to have a regulatory framework enabling use of ground-based technologies,” said Ministry of Communications.

TRAI had forwarded its recommendations on Regulatory Framework for Platform Services to MIB on 19.11.2014, which included certain recommendations related to ‘Regulatory framework for Ground-based broadcasters’.

Accordingly, the Consultation Paper on ‘Regulatory framework for Ground-based Broadcasters ‘is being released for seeking comments from stakeholders. The consultation paper may be accessed on TRAI’s website, www.trai.gov. Written comments on the consultation paper are invited from the stakeholders by 15.11.2024. Counter comments, if any, may be submitted by 29.11.2024. The stakeholders are requested to submit their comments and counter-comments, preferably in electronic form, on the email- [email protected] and [email protected], said Ministry of Communications.
