    Ratan Tata: Industrialist Ratan Tata was cremated with full state honors in Mumbai. He was merged into Panchatattva in the cremation ground located in Worli. On Wednesday, at the age of 86, he breathed his last in a Mumbai hospital.

    The governments of Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Gujarat have declared one day state mourning on Tata’s death. Earlier, Ratan Tata’s mortal remains were kept at the National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA) in South Mumbai for the last darshan of the public from 10.30 am to 3.55 pm, where thousands of people from different sections came to pay homage to him. Ratan Tata is given the credit for bringing the Tata Group to global fame. He died at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital in the city on Wednesday night.

    A religious leader present at the crematorium said that the last rites were performed according to Parsi tradition. He told that after the last rites, rituals will be performed for three days at the late industrialist’s bungalow in Colaba, South Mumbai.

    New Delhi: Chip-maker MediaTek on Wednesday launched Dimensity 9400, the new flagship smartphone chipset optimised for edge-AI applications, immersive gaming, incredible photography and more. The first smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9400 chip will be available in the market, starting in Q4, said the company.

    The Dimensity 9400, the fourth and latest in MediaTek’s flagship mobile SoC lineup, offers a boost in performance with its second-generation ‘All Big Core’ design built on Arm’s v9.2 CPU architecture, combined with the most advanced GPU and NPU for extreme performance in a super power-efficient design.

    Joe Chen, President at MediaTek, said the new chip will continue furthering “our mission to be the enablers of AI, supporting powerful applications that anticipate users’ needs and adapt to their preferences, while also fueling generative AI technology with on-device LoRA training and video generation”.

    The Dimensity 9400 offers 35 per cent faster single-core performance and 28 per cent faster multi-core performance compared to MediaTek’s previous generation flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9300.

    According to the company, built on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, the Dimensity 9400 is up to 40 per cent more power-efficient than its predecessor, allowing users to enjoy longer battery life.

    “As the fourth-generation flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9400 continues to build on our momentum of steady growth in market share, and MediaTek’s legacy of delivering flagship performance in the most efficient design for the best user experiences,” Chen added.

    To allow users to take advantage of the latest generative AI applications, the Dimensity 9400 offers up to 80 per cent faster large language model (LLM) prompt performance while also being up to 35 per cent more power efficient than the Dimensity 9300.

    The company said it is working with developers to offer a unified interface between AI agents, third-party APKs, and models that efficiently run both edge AI and cloud services.

    Delhi Police Special Cell have seized approximately 200 kilograms of cocaine valued at ₹2,000 crore from from a closed shop in West Delhi’s Ramesh Nagar on Thursday. The drug consignment was kept in packets of namkeen, news ageny ANI quoted sources as saying. The individual responsible for bringing in the drugs has reportedly fled to London, heightening concerns about international drug syndicates operating in the region, as to an NDTV report.

    Authorities tracked the cocaine using GPS technology installed in the vehicle used for its transport. This seizure is linked to a larger syndicate previously implicated in a record bust where 562 kilograms of cocaine worth ₹5,600 crore were confiscated. With this latest haul, the total amount of cocaine recovered by Delhi Police has now reached 762 kilograms, marking it as one of the largest drug seizures in the country’s history.

    The recent operation follows an earlier bust in Punjab, where authorities uncovered a major drug syndicate involved in the distribution of approximately ₹10 crore worth of cocaine. This syndicate was known for sourcing significant quantities from Dubai and the UK.

    On October 2, Delhi Police’s Special Cell made headlines by seizing over 500 kilograms of cocaine in a separate operation, underscoring the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the capital.
