Mizoram Assembly Elections: The Congress party, which ruled Mizoram for almost 22 years, has issued a manifesto regarding the upcoming assembly elections. The manifesto released by the party talks about balancing social justice with development. Congress has promised voters subsidized cooking gas, pension for the elderly, widows and disabled, health insurance coverage of Rs 15 lakh, special schemes for farmers and entrepreneurs.
Congress promised to strengthen democracy
Promising to set up an efficient, transparent and corruption-free government in its 12-page manifesto, the Congress said that if it comes to power, it will give more power, responsibilities and financial resources to the grassroots level by giving more power, responsibilities and financial resources to village councils and local bodies. But it will strengthen democracy. On Sunday, Congress’s Rahul Gandhi led a padayatra in the state capital Aizawl where he promised to preserve the state’s culture, language, traditions and religion.
Possibility of multi-cornered contest in this election
This year’s elections in Mizoram are expected to be multi-cornered, with new, emerging regional party Zoram People’s Movement fielding a young face for the state’s top post, and Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party also announcing it will contest the elections. Is. In 2018, the Mizo National Front won 26 of the 40 assembly seats with 37.8 percent vote share. Congress won five seats and BJP won one seat.
Assembly elections will be held in Mizoram on 7 November. In this round, elections are also to be held in four other states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Counting of votes will take place on December 3.
