Musk’s planned visit was to take place on Sunday, two days after the start of India’s national elections. However, it could not be immediately determined why Musk postponed the trip. Additionally, Tesla and Modi’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

In New Delhi, Musk was expected to announce an investment of $2 billion to $3 billion primarily to build a factory in India, Reuters reports, as the government seeks to reduce high tariffs on imported cars. Had announced a policy to do so if companies invest locally.
