Rohit Kashyap, Mungeli. The villagers of Dhuma village of Sargaon tehsil of the district have opened a front against the Bhatia Wine Merchant liquor factory present in the village. The villagers here allege that contaminated water containing chemicals is being released into the river from the liquor factory. At the same time, people of half a dozen nearby villages are very troubled due to the foul smell spread during liquor manufacturing and the foul smell coming from chemical-laden water.
Villagers say that chemical-laden water is causing harm to animals, aquatic animals and crops. On the complaint of local residents, SDM Bharosa Ram Thakur has taken cognizance of this matter and issued a notice to the liquor factory manager.

Let us inform that SDM Bharosa Ram Thakur has issued a show cause notice to take action against the operator of the liquor factory in this case under Section 133 (1) (f) of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973. Along with this, an immediate investigation report has also been sought from the Regional Manager Environmental Protection Board, Bilaspur.
