MP Premier League: On the lines of IPL, MPL (Madhya Pradesh Premier League) is going to be organized in Madhya Pradesh. In the first season of the league, five teams from different regions of the state will participate. These teams include Malwa Panthers, Gwalior Cheetahs, Rewa Jaguars, Bhopal Leopards and Jabalpur Lions. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star batsman Rajat Patidar has got a big responsibility in this league. He has been made the captain of the Malwa Panthers team.
On being given the responsibility of Malwa Panthers, Patidar said, “I know many players from the state who have the ability to play international matches. MPL will help them to progress”. MPL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ravi Patankar told during the press conference that all the matches of this new league will be played with white ball from 15 June to 23 June at the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association International Stadium in Gwalior. Patankar said, “We want that through our league, cricket talents from different regions of the state get a big platform to show their abilities”.
Let us tell you that the distribution of players for Madhya Pradesh Premier League was done through draft process instead of auction. In this process held in a hotel in Indore, all the franchise teams were given numbers through lottery system and they got the opportunity to choose players in the same order. All the players were divided into four categories. In this icon category, those players were included who have represented the Indian team or IPL.
Patidar’s performance in IPL 2024
Let us tell you that young player Rajat Patidar is a resident of Madhya Pradesh and plays for RCB in IPL. At the same time, he has also made his debut for Team India. RCB team, which performed very poorly in its first 8 matches during IPL 2024, made a tremendous comeback in the league and reached the playoffs by winning 6 matches in a row. Rajat Patidar has played a very important role in taking the RCB team to the playoffs.
Patidar played a total of 15 matches for RCB this season. In which he batted in 13 innings and scored 395 runs at an average of 30 and a strike rate of 177.
