The Amarnath Yatra has been going on for the last 14 days. So far, more than 2.80 lakh devotees have visited Baba Barfani in the holy cave temple. On Saturday, another batch of 4 thousand 669 pilgrims left for the valley. Officials of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), headed by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, said that more than 2.80 lakh devotees have visited the place since the yatra began on June 29.

Officials said on Saturday, “Out of these, 1,630 passengers going to Baltal base camp in North Kashmir in a security convoy of 74 vehicles left from Jammu at 3:05 am. Another group of 3,039 passengers left for Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camp in South Kashmir at 3:57 am in a security convoy of 109 vehicles. 52 days journey in a year
This cave is located at an altitude of 3,888 meters above sea level in the Kashmir Himalayas. Devotees reach the cave temple either from the traditional South Kashmir Pahalgam route or from the North Kashmir Baltal route. Devotees either travel through the 48-kilometer-long traditional Pahalgam cave temple route or travel through the 14-kilometer-long Baltal route. Those using the Pahalgam route take four to five days to reach the cave temple, while those using the Baltal route return to the base camp the same day after having ‘darshan’ inside the cave temple. This year’s yatra will conclude after 52 days on August 29, coinciding with the Shravan Purnima and Rakshabandhan festival.
