    Nipah virus: Nipah virus is causing havoc in Kerala. In view of the increasing infection rate, educational institutions in Kozhikode, Kerala have been closed till 24 September. These also include schools, colleges and tuition centres. Health Minister Veena George said in a media statement that the number of infected patients has reached 1080, while 130 new people have been found infected. Of these, 327 are people who are health workers. That means it is spreading rapidly even among the people engaged in health services. Nipah has started wreaking havoc in Kerala. Kozhikode district is the most affected while cases of infection have started being reported in other districts also. 29 people have been found infected in other districts. According to ANI report, out of these, 22 people have been found infected in Malappuram alone. While 1 person from Wayanad, and 3 each from Kinnur and Thrissur have been found infected. The condition of 175 people among the general public is said to be critical while the condition of 122 people among the health workers is said to be critical. Let us tell you that Nipah has already taken the lives of many people in Kerala. To prevent the virus from spreading further, the government has closed more than 100 places. That means it is prohibited to come or gather there. According to the report, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Director General Rajiv Bahl said that the death rate among people infected with Nipah virus is very high. This is much more than Corona virus. While the mortality rate in Corona was 3%, in Nipah it is 40-70%. That means the virus is proving to be very deadly. What is Nipah virus, where did it come from? Like other viruses, Nipah is also a viral infection which is said to have come from Malaysia. Its outbreak first appeared in 1998-99. It causes serious disease in humans. This virus is said to be spread by animals. It also spreads very quickly from human to human. Symptoms of Nipah virus: First of all there is high fever. Or there is a headache. After that there is pain in the muscles. During this time the patient feels very weak and tired. Vomiting may also occur in this. Some people may also feel dizzy. It is being said that this causes mental confusion. If it becomes more serious, it can cause significant damage to the nervous system, increasing the possibility of seizures. The patient may have trouble breathing. In the most severe case, the patient may even go into coma.
