Assembly elections are going to be held in Chhattisgarh at the end of the year. Before these elections, on Monday, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi reached Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh. Launching the ‘Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Nyay Yojana’ here, Rahul Gandhi stressed the need for caste census. During this, Rahul Gandhi described the caste census as ‘X-ray of India’. Rahul Gandhi said that the caste census is like an X-ray of India, it will help us understand how many OBC, tribal and general category persons there are in the country. Once we have this data, the nation can move forward inclusively.

    Targeted at Modi government

Rahul Gandhi, who was on Chhattisgarh tour, also directly attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government. Rahul Gandhi said that while Congress is transparent in its work, BJP works secretly. He said that we press the button of the remote control openly. But BJP suppresses it secretly and Adani ji gets Mumbai airport. Public sector becomes private… and when I questioned PM Modi on Adani in Lok Sabha, the answer I got was, my Lok Sabha membership was cancelled.

Political turmoil has intensified amid preparations for the imminent elections in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh, targeted Congress and described it as a party of ‘rusted iron’. Responding to the PM’s statement, Rahul Gandhi reiterated his commitment to conduct the caste census, underscoring the need for representation and empowerment of different communities.

Elaborating on the promises fulfilled by the Congress state government, Rahul Gandhi said that under the Kisan Nyay Yojana, the government distributed a total input subsidy of Rs 21,000 crore to farmers. Landless farmers were also not left behind, as they received Rs 7,000 as annual financial assistance.

During this, Rahul Gandhi launched 414 development and construction projects worth Rs 669.69 crore for Bilaspur district and participated in the bhoomi pujan ceremony for these initiatives. Bilaspur division, with its 8 districts and 25 assembly seats, plays a vital role in the assembly elections, significantly influencing the fate of Congress and BJP candidates. In the 2018 elections, Congress won 14 seats, while BJP won 7 seats, and regional parties like BSP and Jogi Congress collectively won 4 seats, with Jogi Congress and BSP winning 2 seats each.
