Raipur. The issue of Naxalite-police encounter was raised during the Question Hour on the third day of the monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. Congress MLAs accused the police of killing and arresting villagers by calling them Naxalites. On this, Home Minister Vijay Sharma said that this allegation is false, it cannot be tolerated. With this, sloganeering by opposition members started in the House. Congress MLA Vikram Mandavi said in the House that villagers are being killed and arrested by calling them Naxals in fake encounters. Such cases have come to light in Pidia, Nadpalli. On this, Home Minister Vijay Sharma said that do not break the morale of the security forces by making such allegations. Former minister Kawasi Lakhma said that the tribals who had gone to pluck tendu leaves were surrounded and killed. On this, the Home Minister said that do not make false allegations. This allegation is false and cannot be tolerated.
Before this, Leader of Opposition Dr. Charan Das Mahant raised the issue of Naxalite incidents. He asked how many Naxalite incidents have taken place in the state from December 2023 to June 2024? In which police station areas have the incidents of police-Naxal encounter taken place? How many soldiers were martyred in these incidents? How many civilians were injured and killed? How many Naxalites were killed, arrested?
Also, information was sought about what items were recovered from the Naxalites from January 2024 to June 30, 2024? Bullets, ammunition and other things? How many Naxalites are in jail? How many Naxalites are convicted and under trial? Where are the recovered materials kept?
Home Minister Vijay Sharma said that as of today, there have been 273 Naxalite incidents, including 92 incidents of Naxalite-police encounters. 19 security personnel have been martyred in the encounter. During this period, 34 civilians have been killed by Maoists. At the same time, 137 Naxalites have been killed, while 171 Naxalites have been arrested. As of June 30, 2024, a total of 790 Naxalites are in jail. Of these, 25 have been convicted and the remaining 765 Naxalites are under trial.
Dr. Mahant said that how were the 34 civilians killed by the Maoists? On this the Home Minister said that out of the 34 civilians killed, 4 were killed by organizing a Jan Adalat. 24 people were killed by the Naxalites on the charge of being informers. 6 people were killed due to the mines laid by the Naxalites.
Dr. Mahant then asked whether the 137 Naxalites who were killed were from Chhattisgarh or outside? The Home Minister gave information about all of them, name-wise. The information about outside and Chhattisgarh is not in the category right now, I will make it available later. Dr. Mahant asked how many Bharmar guns were seized? Are the Bharmar guns in a condition to be fired? My doubt is towards the police.
The Home Minister said that saying that someone was killed and a loaded gun was placed near him is not acceptable. Investigating something is not a matter, it can be investigated. Whatever things have been found, all the information is available. Dr. Mahant sought information about the Naxalites who are under trial, asked since when? The Minister said that there is no detailed information about the 765 Naxalites who are under trial, I will provide it later.
