US Election 2024: US Vice President Kamala Harris has finally secured the official presidential nomination from the Democratic Party. With the official announcement of the Democratic Party, she became the first Indian-African woman to get a presidential election ticket from the Democratic Party.
59-year-old Kamala Harris will face former President and Republican Party candidate Donald Trump in the general election to be held in November. Last Friday, Harris was declared as the candidate of the ruling Democratic Party for the upcoming presidential election after US President Joe Biden withdrew from the candidature.
4,567 delegates voted for Harris
Harris’s candidacy was officially announced after five days of online voting by delegates to the Democratic National Convention. The party said in a statement released before midnight that 99 percent of the delegates voted in favor of Harris. 4,567 delegates across the country voted for Harris.
