Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. A video of theft of rice meant for the poor under the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the district is rapidly going viral on social media. In which rice is being stolen from two transport vehicles. Which is clearly visible in the video. This incident has raised serious questions on the functioning of the food department in the district. This viral video is said to be near Sakri Belmundi on Bilaspur-Mungeli road.
Everyone is shocked after the video of such theft of rice meant for the poor surfaced. In the video, it can be clearly seen how PDS rice is being stolen from the sack of the transport vehicle with the help of a pointed pipe.
Due to lack of monitoring of such theft, the ration shop operators have to bear the brunt of it. Because after such theft, when the rice reaches the shop operators and if they do not get it weighed, then the government recovers the shortage in ration distribution from the ration shop operators only.
