Jain Saint Sheetal Muni abandoned the sleeping posture 52 years ago, that is, he has not been lying down for the last 52 years. He sleeps for only 4-6 hours while sitting.

Sheetal Muni, born in Jodhpur in 1948, accepted Jain initiation from Guru Hastiman in 1970, i.e. at the age of 22. Two years after initiation, while reading the biography of his guru Acharya Jaimal, he got the inspiration of rigorous penance. After this, he abandoned the Shayan Mudra.
