paris paralympics: Indian shooter Avani Lekhara has won the gold medal in the women’s 10 meter air rifle standing SH1 at the Paris Paralympics. Paralympian shooter Mona Agarwal has won the bronze medal. Both the players have brought glory to the country by winning medals.
Avni had earlier created history at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. She became the first Indian woman to win two medals in a single edition of the Paralympics. She won the 10m air rifle gold in the SH1 category and bronze in the 50m rifle three-position in her Summer Games debut.

The SH1 category is for shooters with lower limb impairments such as amputation or paraplegia, who can hold their gun without difficulty and shoot from a standing or sitting position.
The Indian shooting contingent comprised 10 athletes – Avni, Manish Narwal, Amir Ahmed Bhat, Rudransh Khandelwal, Mona Agarwal, Rubina Francis, Swaroop Mahaveer Unhalkar, Siddharth Babu, Sriharsh Devaraddi and Nihal Singh.
