Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Board has officially filed a complaint at East Police Station against AR Dairy Food Pvt Ltd, Dindigul over alleged adulteration of ‘prasadam’ given to devotees at Tirupati Balaji Temple.
Earlier, the government has formed an SIT under the leadership of senior police officer Sarveshwar Tripathi which will investigate this adulteration case. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a show cause notice to a Tamil Nadu-based company. It is alleged that animal fat was found in 4 samples of the ghee used to make the prasad of Tirumala temple.

Public interest litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court
A PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the adulteration in the prasad of Tirupati Balaji temple. This PIL was filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy. Subramanian Swamy had demanded an inquiry into the allegations of adulteration leveled by CM Chandrababu Naidu.

FSSAI asked this question to AR Dairy
FSSAI issued a notice to AR Dairy Food Pvt Ltd asking why its central licence should not be suspended for violating the provisions of Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011. Analysis of ghee samples in the central laboratory found it to be non-compliant with the standards.
The Ghee Procurement Committee of TTD has sent all the samples supplied to TTD to NDDB Calf Lab in Anand, Gujarat for testing. FSSAI found that the ghee did not meet the standards.

The board managing the temple had revealed that samples sent for quality check had been found to be adulterated with poor quality ghee and animal fat. The claim of adulteration of laddus with animal fat was made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. After the previous YSR Congress Party government was accused of this issue, former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy had called it diversionary politics and a fabricated story.
