Sushil Salaam, Kanker. A bear suddenly entered the Durga pandal located at Largaon in the district late at night. The incident took place when about 10 villagers were sleeping in the pandal. The bear entered the pandal in the greed of drinking oil, but fortunately it did not attack anyone. The villagers handled the situation and maintained peace, due to which a major accident was averted.
The terror of wild animals is continuously increasing in Kanker district. Apart from bears, leopards are also becoming violent by entering residential areas. The activities of these wild animals have posed a big challenge to the forest department. In the last few days, leopards have attacked people including children and seriously injured them.
A few days ago, five leopards were seen together in Dumali village adjacent to the district headquarters, due to which the forest department is on alert mode. There is an atmosphere of panic among the nearby villagers.
