The members of Mahila Durgotsav Samiti of Mini Basti located in Jarhabhata area of Bilaspur have started a new initiative to remove the dark cloud of drug abuse that is continuously spreading in the colony. The committee members are trying to teach the children of the colony and awaken their passion towards education for 9 days of Navratri. In fact, the Mini Basti area of Bilaspur falls in the extremely backward areas and the youth here are falling prey to drugs.
Also distributing notebooks and books to poor children
For the last 3 years, a women’s committee has been installing the Durga idol in the Shiva temple complex of Mini Basti. During Navratri, the committee members are seen teaching the children of the local colony for the entire 9 days. Besides, by contacting their homes, they are making children as well as family members aware about education. Along with creating awareness among the youth who are falling prey to drugs, they are also inspiring them to stay away from drugs. Besides this, the women of the committee also distribute copy books and other necessary educational materials to the poor children of the area, so that the children do not face any inconvenience in studying.
