Gave instructions on effective implementation of new criminal laws and quality of crime investigation

Raipur, April 09, 2025 – Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai reviewed the functions of the Home Department today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan, Nava Raipur. Chief Minister Shri Sai directed that the effective implementation of the new criminal law, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), implemented by the Government of India, be given top priority. He said that these laws will not only improve the justice system, but will also help in creating fear among criminals and instilling confidence in the general public.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that an effective understanding and practical training of these laws is essential for the police force, prosecution officers and other related personnel. He directed that workshops and seminars be organized in all districts in a phased manner, in which training should be imparted through case studies and mock trials.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized on making the crime investigation system more effective, scientific and authentic. He said that in criminal cases, investigation should be completed on the basis of accurate and solid evidence, not just arrest, so that the accused can be punished. The Chief Minister also said that the investigating officers should be made proficient in modern investigation techniques, digital forensics, CCTNS system and use of scientific equipment. Providing timely justice to the victims is the priority of the state government and for this, transparency, promptness and technical efficiency in the research process is mandatory. Chief Minister Shri Sai also directed to make the cyber cell technically capable and to run a campaign to connect the public with cyber awareness, keeping in view the increasing challenge of cyber crimes.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Pingua, Director General of Police Shri Arun Dev Gautam, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Shri Rahul Bhagat and other senior officers were present.
