    Review of Efforts to Promote Tourism in the State

    Raipur, April 11, 2025/Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has said that there are immense possibilities for tourism in Chhattisgarh. To establish Chhattisgarh on the tourism map of the country, the Tourism, Forest, and Water Resources Departments should work by creating an integrated action plan. He said that forest-based tourism, water sports in the Mahanadi, Indravati rivers, and major dams of the state should be promoted. Tourism facilities should be developed at the Shakti Peeths of the state. The Chief Minister directed to prepare tourism circuits and corridors by including nearby places in major tourist destinations. He also directed to prepare new proposals for tourism projects of the state for assistance from the Central Government.

    Chief Minister Shri Sai was reviewing the works being done to promote tourism in the state at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan today. In the meeting, the possibilities of eco-tourism, ethnic tourism, adventure tourism, wellness tourism, heritage tourism, wildlife tourism, and water sports were discussed. The Chief Minister said that major tourist destinations including Bastar, Sarguja should be established as a brand.

    Cooperation of Tour and Travel Agencies and Well-Known Hotel Institutions Should be Taken

    The Chief Minister said in the meeting that a plan should be prepared to develop circuits and corridors by including small tourist places located near the major tourist places like Kanger Valley National Park, Guru Ghasidas Tamor Pingla National Park, Barnawapara Sanctuary, Achanakmar Sanctuary, Tatamari View Point. He said that the places of religious importance, historical importance, archeological and natural importance of the state should be identified and developed as a better destination from the tourism point of view. He also directed to promote eco-tourism and adventure tourism. The Chief Minister said that to promote tourism in the state, meetings should be held with tour and travel agencies and well-known hotel institutions to explore the possibilities of increasing tourism in the state.

    Water Sports Will Be Promoted

    Chief Minister Shri Sai said that there are considerable possibilities for the development of water sports activities in the state. A large number of tourists come for water boating in Gangrel Dam in Dhamtari, Kodar Dam in Mahasamund, Mini Mata Hasdeo Bango Dam in Korba, Saroda Dam, Chitrakote Waterfalls in Bastar. Keeping these possibilities in mind, sites should also be identified in the various rivers and dams of the state and developed as water sports.

    Tourism Corridors Will Be Developed in Bastar, Champaran, Madheshwar Mayali, Bhoramdev

    In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that Bastar corridor should be developed by including Chitrakote Waterfall, Dantewada, Dholkal, Tatamari, Barsur, Teerathgarh in Kanger Valley National Park, Kutumsargufa, Dhudmaras, Tamda Ghumar, Mahendrighumar waterfalls. It should be branded at the national level. Similarly, a corridor should be created by including Madheshwar Temple, Mayali Lake, Kailash Gufa in Jashpur district. He said that a large number of Gujarati tourists come to Champaran, the manifestation place of Mahaprabhu Vallabacharya, and events like marriages also take place here. Tourism facilities should be developed and widely publicized to give it national recognition.

    In the meeting, the progress of various tourism projects being run in the state under Swadesh Darshan and Prasad Yojana was also reviewed. The Chief Minister said that an amount of Rs 145 crore has been sanctioned for Bhoramdev Corridor under Swadesh Darshan. With this, religious and natural places are being connected and developed as a better destination from the tourism point of view. The Chief Minister said that guidance should be taken from people in the film industry to develop Chitrotpala Film City. Our government is building Chitrotpala Film City in Naya Raipur. For this, Rs 95 crore has been approved by the Central Government.
