Chirag Paswan: Contesting Bihar Elections to Boost LJP’s Strike Rate, Not Aiming for CM

Central Minister Chirag Paswan indicated that he might contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. He emphasized that his primary objective is to improve the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas)’s performance, specifically its ‘strike rate,’ and not to vie for the Chief Minister’s position. The strike rate refers to the percentage of seats won relative to the total seats contested. Paswan believes that enhancing his party’s strike rate will strengthen the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He also refuted claims that he is eyeing the CM’s post and regretted efforts to sow discord within the alliance. Paswan stated that the decision to contest would be made by his party’s parliamentary board. He cited the BJP’s practice of fielding national leaders in state elections. Furthermore, he predicted that the NDA, under Nitish Kumar, will form a robust government in Bihar after the election. His party is set to launch its election campaign with a rally in Arrah, Bhojpur district. He mentioned the possibility of contesting from a constituency in the Shahabad region and plans more rallies before the election, each covering multiple districts.
