    The perpetrators of the biggest ever ‘gold theft’ in Delhi have finally been caught. The accused had fled to Chhattisgarh after stealing jewelery worth Rs 25 crore from a jewelery shop in Bhogal, Delhi. Along with the teams of Raipur, Bilaspur and Durg police, the main accused Lokesh Shriwas and his associate have been arrested. After committing the crime in Delhi, Lokesh was hiding in Smriti Nagar of Bhilai in Durg district. 18 kg gold and diamonds have been recovered from the possession of the accused. Lokesh’s associate Shiva Chandravanshi has been arrested by Bilaspur police from Kawardha. Jewelery worth Rs 23 lakh has been seized from him. The accused has already been arrested in a major theft in Parakh Jewelers of Bhilai.

    How was Lokesh caught?

    Bilaspur Police had received information about the vicious thief Lokesh Shriwas, who was absconding in the case of 7 thefts in Bilaspur, hiding in the fort. Bilaspur police team was sent to arrest Lokesh Shriwas. SP Santosh Singh said that accused Lokesh Shriwas was hiding in a house in Smritinagar police station area of ​​Durg district. As soon as the location was known, he was arrested with the help of local Durg and Raipur police. On searching the house of accused Lokesh Shriwas, items worth Rs 12.50 lakh were found which were stolen in Bilaspur. During the search, 18.5 kg gold and diamond jewelery were also found. When the police asked about it, he confessed that he had committed the theft in Jangpura, Delhi.

    Lokesh has been targeting jewelery shops

    Lokesh Shriwas is a habitual criminal. He has been arrested in several incidents of theft and has also gone to jail. He committed many theft incidents in the state including Durg-Bhilai, Rajnandgaon, Kawardha. He had committed the theft of jewelery worth crores of rupees in Parakh Jewelery shop of Bhilai. Every time he steals, he goes to jail and after being released from jail, he steals again. Accused Lokesh Shriwas targets the jewelery shop every time. The accused was hiding in Durg district of Chhattisgarh after committing a major theft in Delhi. Lokesh Shriwas and Shiva Chandravanshi have been arrested and taken to Bilaspur police. Delhi Police has also come to Chhattisgarh to interrogate the accused. After interrogating the accused, the police are hopeful of uncovering more cases.
