Faridabad, Haryana, witnessed a devastating event on Tuesday as a man, aged 45, committed suicide by jumping in front of a train, taking the lives of his four children. Manoj Mahato, a resident of Bihar, reportedly took the drastic measure after a dispute with his wife. The sequence of events began with an argument at home, after which Mahato left with the children, claiming he was taking them to a park. He later gave them snacks before leading them to the railway tracks. In a heartbreaking scene, the children attempted to break free from their father’s grip. The incident happened around 12:55 pm as the Golden Temple Express train approached Ballabgarh. Mahato was seen walking on the tracks with his children, two held by the hand, and two on his shoulders. The train’s loco pilot sounded the horn repeatedly, but the man remained on the tracks and jumped. The children were identified as Murli (5), Chotu (3), Pawan (10), and Karu (9). A note containing the wife’s phone number was discovered in Mahato’s pocket. Police suspect the suicide was a result of marital issues, specifically the wife’s alleged unfaithfulness.
