In the wake of the Air India Flight 171 crash, Tata Sons has committed ₹1 crore in ex-gratia to the families of the deceased. The company will also cover medical costs and provide comprehensive care for those injured in the accident. The flight, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The flight, which was carrying 242 people, including 12 crew members, was en route to Gatwick, London. Captain Sumeet Sabharwal piloted the aircraft. The aircraft crashed into a doctors’ hostel near the airport perimeter. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his profound grief over the heartbreaking incident and assured support to the affected individuals. The aircraft made a Mayday call before communication was lost with air traffic control.
