Israel has launched a military operation against Iran’s nuclear program, as confirmed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday. The offensive, named ‘Operation Rising Lion,’ is a preemptive strike intended to dismantle the Iranian threat. Netanyahu indicated the operation would continue until its objective is achieved.
Netanyahu stated in a video address, “Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a targeted military operation to roll back the Iranian threat to Israel’s very survival. This operation will continue for as many days as it takes to remove this threat.”
The IDF reported that Israeli Air Force (IAF) jets conducted the initial phase, striking multiple military and nuclear targets within Iran. Defense Minister Israel Katz declared a state of emergency due to the unfolding situation.
Katz warned, “Following the State of Israel’s preemptive strike against Iran, a missile and drone attack against the State of Israel and its civilian population is expected in the immediate future.”
The IDF highlighted the danger of Iran’s nuclear ambitions, stating, “Today, Iran is closer than ever to obtaining a nuclear weapon. Weapons of mass destruction in the hands of the Iranian regime threaten the State of Israel and the wider world.”
The Israeli government reiterated its commitment to protecting its citizens, stating it will continue to take necessary actions. The statement concluded, “The State of Israel remains committed to fulfilling its obligation to protect its people, just as it has done in the past.”
