A former pilot, Ehsan Khalid, has shared his expert analysis of the recent Air India Flight AI-171 crash near Ahmedabad. Khalid believes that a loss of power is a likely contributing factor to the accident, but he doubts that both engines failed simultaneously. The London-bound flight, carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members, crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in 241 fatalities. According to Khalid, the exact cause of the crash will be revealed after analyzing data from the Flight Data Recorder, Cockpit Voice Recorder, and ACARS. Videos of the crash suggest no mid-air explosion occurred. Khalid observed that the landing gear was down after takeoff, which, to him, raises questions. He noted that the pilot issued a ‘mayday’ call, indicating a cockpit failure. Khalid also cautioned against premature conclusions, given the numerous variables involved. A formal investigation into the crash has been launched by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), in line with international aviation safety protocols.
