Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the South Africa Test series against Zimbabwe due to a hamstring strain, paving the way for Keshav Maharaj to captain the team. The injury occurred in the World Test Championship final against Australia. Bavuma attempted to play through the injury, batting until the tea break before retiring. The upcoming series, starting June 28, will see a new look South African side, featuring five uncapped players. The decision allows for a rest period for key players, including Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada. Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi will participate only in the second test.
