UAE Hindu Mandir: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Swaminarayan Temple as the first Hindu temple in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 14 February. It is being said to be the largest Hindu temple in Asia.

This Hindu temple is the first traditional Hindu temple in UAE. Spread over 27 acres of land in Abu Mureekha near Al Rahba along the Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway, this temple has been built at a cost of Rs 700 crore. You can gauge the grandeur of this temple by the fact that it is 32.92 meters (108 feet ) high, is 79.86 meters (262 ft) long and 54.86 meters (180 ft) wide.

The temple has a large amphitheater, prayer halls, a gallery, a library, a garden, water facilities, a food court, a gift shop, a children’s play area, a majlis and 2 community halls (with a capacity of about 5,000 people). Such facilities are available. According to the report, 100 sensors have been installed in the temple. Apart from this, these sensors have been installed to detect seismic activities and changes related to temperature and pressure fluctuations.

Like the Ram temple of Ayodhya, iron and steel were not used in the construction of this temple. This temple has been built by Indian artisans. The temple has 12 domes built in the shape of a pyramid and has 7 pinnacles and 402 pillars. The temple will remain like this for 1000 years. This temple is made of 40,000 cubic meters of marble, which includes white Italian marble, 1,80,000 cubic meters of sandstone and more than 18 lakh bricks.

During Prime Minister Modi’s first visit in 2015, UAE had decided to allocate land in Abu Dhabi for the construction of the temple. The Prime Minister inaugurated the temple project in February 2018. Its construction started in December, 2019. The construction of this temple has been done under the leadership of Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). The consecration ceremony of the temple is scheduled on Basant Panchami (14 February). This event will be celebrated as ‘Festival of Harmony’.
