Chandu Rathod, a prominent figure in the Communist Party of India (CPI), was murdered during his morning walk in Hyderabad’s Malakpet area. The incident took place at Shalivahana Nagar Park, with unknown individuals responsible. Witnesses say the attackers threw chilli powder at Rathod before shooting him multiple times. Police are investigating the crime, classifying it as a murder under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Rathod’s background includes ties to left-wing politics. Family members have pointed to a possible conflict with a CPI-ML member as a potential motive. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
