A complete ban has been enforced on the popular Gajpalla and Chingrapgar waterfalls in Gariyaband district after a young woman from Raipur lost her life. The 19-year-old, Mehvish Khan, was part of a group of friends visiting the waterfall when she tragically slipped and fell into the water. The accident happened on a Monday afternoon. Rescue teams, including the SDRF, were deployed immediately. After a challenging search, the young woman’s body was found approximately 20 feet below the surface, lodged in a crevice between rocks. The rescue operation involved more than 60 people, including personnel from the Forest Department, police, and local divers. Forest Department officials have issued an order to restrict access to the waterfalls until further notice, and security has been increased at all entry points.
