Kolkata authorities have taken a Bangladeshi model and actress into custody this week on charges of using fake documents to reside in India. The woman, Shanta Paul, was employed by an airline and also worked as a model. Upon her arrest, police recovered forged documents. Paul entered India in 2023 from Barisal, Bangladesh, using a legitimate passport. She then secured a flat in Kolkata by presenting fake documents, including an Aadhaar card, PAN card, and Voter ID. Further investigation revealed that Paul is allegedly digitally married to Sahik Mohammad Ashraf, a resident of Andhra Pradesh. Paul also used the forged documents to co-rent properties with Ashraf, who works in the Merchant Navy.
