A charity auction saw a bidding war for Indian batsman Shubman Gill’s test jersey from the England series, ultimately selling for 5.41 lakh rupees. The funds raised will benefit the Ruth Strauss Foundation, a charity established to assist families dealing with the financial burdens of long-term illnesses. The auction, held online, featured jerseys from both the Indian and English cricket teams. Following Gill’s jersey in terms of price were jerseys of other prominent players like Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. The foundation, founded by former England captain Andrew Strauss, was created in memory of his wife, Ruth Strauss, who died from cancer. The auction’s proceeds will directly support families struggling with the costs associated with serious illnesses.
