The Aadi Karmayogi campaign, initiated by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, seeks to empower India’s tribal communities. It aims to create a cadre of over 2 million trained transformative leaders across 30 states and union territories. These leaders will work in over 1 lakh tribal-dominant villages to improve education, health, nutrition, and livelihoods, while preserving traditional cultures. The campaign acknowledges the historical marginalization of tribal communities despite decades of policy attention. As India progresses towards ‘Developed India @2047’, the initiative adopts a mission-mode, convergence-driven, and community-led approach to empower the tribal population, ensuring their active participation and benefiting over 10.5 crore tribal citizens. The goal is sustainable development at the village level, prioritizing the preservation of cultural identity alongside progress.
