In a move to curb plastic usage, the Karnataka government will ban all plastic products in state-run temples from August 15. The decision, declared by Revenue Minister and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy, seeks to improve hygiene and environmental consciousness within these religious institutions. The ban encompasses all temples managed by the Muzrai Department. Temple authorities will strictly enforce these guidelines, with penalties including fines and potential criminal charges for those violating the ban. Additionally, a Dry Day will be in effect across the state on August 15, prohibiting the sale of alcohol for two days in light of the upcoming Janmashtami festival. Authorities are also taking precautions to maintain law and order during public events.
