At the NDA parliamentary party meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, negotiated under former Prime Minister Nehru. He stated that Nehru had made a critical error by allocating a significant portion of water resources to Pakistan, effectively dividing the nation’s resources. Modi indicated that Nehru later conceded the agreement’s shortcomings, and his current administration is working to rectify the historical mistake. Modi emphasized that the treaty was detrimental to farmers. The Prime Minister also introduced CP Radhakrishnan, the NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate, as a grounded leader from the OBC community, highlighting their long-standing friendship. Addressing the Congress, Modi criticized the party for its selective adherence to the constitution. He reiterated that the Indus Waters Treaty was implemented by Nehru without the consent of the cabinet and that his government is dedicated to correcting the errors and ensuring that the farmers are not wronged.
