Mahindra’s Vision S concept, unveiled recently, offers a glimpse into the future of the brand’s SUV design. It is expected to complement the existing Scorpio lineup, including the Scorpio N and Classic Scorpio. This concept joins other Vision concepts like X, T, and SXT.
The exterior of the Vision S departs from the current Mahindra aesthetic. It features LED headlights, a grille with integrated LED elements, and the Mahindra twin peaks logo. The front bumper incorporates a radar unit and parking sensors. Distinctive elements include roof-mounted lights and pixel-shaped fog lamps.
Designed for off-road performance, the Vision S includes robust cladding on doors and wheel arches. It rides on 19-inch wheels with unique star-shaped rims and utilizes side-mounted cameras in place of traditional mirrors. The rear showcases inverted tail lamps, a reflector design inspired by the Bolero Neo, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel branded with the Vision S logo.
The interior of the Vision S introduces a new design direction. A new steering wheel with VISION S badging, a fully digital driver’s display with enhanced graphics, and an infotainment system using Mahindra’s new NU UX, providing wireless smartphone connectivity, highlight the cabin. Dual-tone upholstery, redesigned door trims, premium seats, and a panoramic sunroof enhance the interior experience. Ergonomically placed grab handles ease entry and exit.
The Vision S is built on Mahindra’s NU-IQ platform, the same platform as the Vision T, SXT, and X concepts. This adaptable monocoque platform supports SUVs ranging from 3,990 mm to 4,320 mm in length and is compatible with various powertrains, including petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric, as well as both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive systems. The presence of a fuel cap suggests an internal combustion engine version is planned, possibly with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol or a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
