Ravichandran Ashwin, the veteran off-spinner, has announced his departure from the Indian Premier League. He shared the news on the social media platform X, revealing that he intends to play in various franchise cricket leagues worldwide. The reason behind his decision is not entirely clear, but Ashwin indicated that it was time to conclude his tenure in the IPL and embark on a new phase of his career, focusing on international league play. He acknowledged the franchises, the IPL, and the BCCI for their contributions to his career. During IPL 2025, Ashwin played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He was signed by the team for INR 9.75 crore. His performance included taking 7 wickets in 9 matches. Ashwin started his IPL journey in 2009 with CSK and has since played in 221 matches, representing different franchises, and has taken 187 wickets. He has also played for Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
