In a significant move, the CISF has introduced several welfare programs to support its workforce and their families. The programs include access to low-interest loans, educational opportunities for dependents, improved medical support, benefits for retirees, and funding for unit-level activities. These initiatives are set to assist 1.6 lakh CISF members. The online welfare portal is set to be launched on September 1st, with over 100 crores allocated for loans, scholarships, and various welfare benefits.
Key highlights of the initiatives include: personal loans up to Rs 5 lakhs, with interest rates reduced to 3%; extended repayment periods up to 5 years; reimbursement for uncovered medical expenses; the DG Scholarship available to all CISF dependents with scores above 80%; and increased scholarships for the children of martyrs. Retirees will receive Rs 1.25 lakh from their Risk-Saving payments. An online portal will replace the manual loan system, enabling direct applications and processing within 15 days, with funds disbursed directly to the accounts. The welfare fund will supply over 100 Crores for these welfare activities.
These measures will expedite service delivery, ease financial pressures, and reach a greater number of personnel. Key benefits include halved interest rates on personal loans, now at 3% for all categories. Medical treatment loans will have a 2% interest rate. Loan amounts for purposes like home loans and marriages have been increased to Rs 5 lakhs, and repayment periods have been extended to 5 years. The reimbursement of uncovered medical expenses under schemes like Ayushman CAPF and CGHS will be fully covered. Financial support will be provided even during medical leave. Significant changes have been made to the DG Scholarship Scheme, expanding it to a larger pool of CISF dependents. Those with scores over 80% will be eligible for a Rs 20,000 scholarship, and those above 90% will get Rs 25,000, with no restrictions on the number of recipients. Scholarship amounts for the children of martyrs from class 01 to PG have also been increased, with no limit on beneficiaries.
